Referral Anxiety

Hi all,

I'm 35 and recently found a lump in my breast. My GP has referred me and I have an appt for 15th Feb. Like many of you on here, I'm extremely anxious, I have a young family and my mum has previously had breast cancer so it also suffers a lot the emotions that I went through with her.

Can I ask, anyone who has recently been to an appt, where you able to take someone with you? I'm worried that with covid restrictions, they won't allow you to.

Thank you

K

  • Hi KateG,

It is totally understandable that you are feeling anxious.

I have recently been to the hospital for a few mammograms, ultra sound and biopsy and then a repeat biopsy via the mammogram machine. Unfortunately, I was not allowed to take anyone in with me. Try not to worry too much as the staff at the hospital are very nice to you and put you at ease. You could check with your hospital as some may vary (I'm in the north of England).

Hope everything goes well for you and remember, we are all in this together.
