2 week wait and covid

Hi everyone - feeling really anxious. I went to the doctors Thursday as I had found a lump in my breast the day before.  As I expected he said I would need to be referred for an urgent assessment.  I knew it would be a 2 week wait and the doctor said that if I hadn't hear anything by yesterday to ring the breast clinic.

I had a really busy day at work and came home and called the clinic as I hadn't heard anything at that point.  Spoke to a lovely lady over the phone to be told it will be 5 - 6 weeks for an appointment due to the backlogs.  She was very apologetic and quite frankly angry as I was the 4th patient who she has spoken in about 20 minutes and had to tell them the same thing.  The 2 week wait is a 5 -6 weeks.  Is anyone else having the same wait?  I'm worried that if I do need treatment then things could be much worse in 6 weeks time compared to now.

  • Hi Jacs, thanks for checking in, I have my appointment at 9.15am tomorrow, don't know what to do with myself today! I have a 7 month old and a 9 year old so the baby boy is keeping me on my toes physically, and the 9 year old mentally! My husband is away this evening but back in the early hours to take me thankfully so he can look after the baby in the car and probably find a nearby park for a couple of hours whilst I'm in there. I'm expecting to be at least 2 hours so I've been told and have read on here so he may be better just going home, although the hospital is about 40 mins from home.

    How are you? Xx
