Indeterminate breast calcifications

Hi, has anyone else had this issue?  I went into breast clinic with another lump (I've had numerous fluid filled cysts over the last four years).  That was all fine but they flagged up calcifications on the other side.  I was really shocked.  I've got a biopsy next week and I'm in that horrible inbetween place of not knowing and worrying.  Is this likely to be DCIS?  Thanks x

  • Hi PositiveT

I saw your post on another thread saying that you'd been diagnosed with DCIS today. So sorry to hear your news. Just wanted to say that I'm thinking of you.

    xx

  • Hi Bubblesmum.

    Thank you!

Yes diagnosis of DCIS confirmed today. Luckily no invasive found from biopsy.

Having an MRI in the next week or so and then booked in for lumpectomy and bilateral reconstruction on 10th March. I have rather large boobs and they are planning on taking quite a significant area out so consultant said they would even them up so I'm not too wonky!

Feeling OK. Relieved to know what's what and to have a plan in place!

How are you feeling two days post surgery? Hope you're doing OK xx

  • Hi

At least you have a plan in place and some positive action taking place. I think the worst bit is waiting for the biopsy results. Once you've got a diagnosis things start to happen and now you have a surgery date you can plan around it. Sounds like you'll end up with a good look!

I feel fine today. Hardly any pain - got dressed and pottered about and sat in the garden in the sun which was lovely. I still feel quite tired but I'm enjoying being cooked for abs drinking a glass of wine. Trust me - the worst bit is before the op not after!

  • Hi, just thought I'd log on to see if any news and I see you have been diagnosed with DCIS. Do you know what grade? I'm really pleased you don't have any invasive, that is great news. I expect you are relieved you know what is what? Xxx

  • Really glad to hear you are doing well! And yay for a nice glass of wine!

  • Thanks Vicki.

Yes very much a relief that no invasive. Plan is in place so just onwards and upwards from here! The waiting was definitely the worst!

Apparently it's a mixture of low and intermediate grade so that's positive too.

How are you doing lovely? X

  • Hi PositiveT

It's good news that they are low and intermediate. Do you know how big they are?

  • That's the one thing I forgot to ask!!

    So no idea!!

I will ask next time I see the doctor.

  • Hello

I'm OK. Had to have mammogram and then a biopsy of my neck this morning then i saw the consultant andbthe decision has been made to start me on chemotherapy first, so seeing oncologist on Tuesday to find out how often how long what dose I suppose? I'll be having hormone therapy at the same time. I'm definitely going to do the fasting before chemo as I've read positive things about doing that.

I'm not going to use a cold cap, but I am having a hair replacement system made so I don't have to look at myself bald!! It's the one thing I can control at least hope all of you lovely ladies are doing OK. Xxx

  • Hi!

Good to hear your treatment plan is coming together and I hope your meeting with the oncologist goes well on Tuesday. I've not heard of hair replacement system but it sounds really positive!

I remember when my mum lost her hair from chemo......she bumped into my then boyfriend on the landing one night (in just her knickers - don't ask me why she was wandering around half naked!! ) and instead of covering her boobs she put her hands over her head!! He was mortified haha!!!

You've got this Vicki! Sending lots of love xx
