In Hindsight....what would you have done

Hello, I'm due to start TC treatment in 3 weeks. I'm trying to plan, and get things ready. Black nail varnish, acupuncture sessions, bamboo cap and a silk pillowcase.

I'm also looking to donate some boxes of hope to my local hospital so that newly diagnosed people can have the support, information and anything else that can help them feel less overwhelmed.

In hindsight, what would you have done prior to treatment in order to plan better or what do you think I should put in the boxes of hope?

Thank you so much for any help you can give me.

Xx

  • It's possible you might need certain foods, some can react with treatment depending what you have treatment and side effects.

Most people keep clear of citrus fruit especially grapefruit. Cheese can react depending on type and yougart with live bacteria can react bad

Apart from that good luck and best wishes for the future.

P.s hope you've had your teeth checked.

  • Thank you so much for your reply and well wishes, Billy.

I'll definitely check the foods out with my BCN. It will be good to compike a diet checklist to put in the boxes.

    All the best

  • Hi Danielle.

Alot of foods will taste like cardboard, drink can taste yuk as well, stronger tastes mostly aren't to bad (curry as an example or ginger biscuits ) and drink something strong like ginger ale.

It can vary person to person so good luck.

Please keep in touch so that we know how things are going, it could also help others starting on the wobbly way

    Billy .

That's a lovely gesture.  In terms of your query you may find the top tips that are on the first page of the MacMillan monthly chemo thread (on the breast cancer group online community) useful...lots of do's and don't and things to be aware of.
