Waiting for results Turbt for bladder cancer

Hi

I had a little tumour removed from my bladder a week ago.  I am waiting from results and even though I am trying to be positive and all that I am worried and tired.  I also have kidney pain but am waiitng for a nuclear scan for this.  I know that is is likely that the whole cancer has been cut out but somehow I feel shaken over it and wait for the post.  I wondered how other people have felt.

    We know that waiting for tests and results can be a really difficult time. It can be hard to stay positive in the face of the unknown but hopefully within the near future you'll have answers to all your questions.

    Hi Agnesw.

    I had a small bladder cancer removed last June, about 9 years after I had my prostate removed for prostate cancer.

    What you're going through is perfectly normal.  I felt exactly the same.  I was so keyed up when I had my first follow up cystoscopy that I couldn't look at the screen, and I took the doctor's word that all was well.  No doubt I'll feel equally keyed up at my subsequent cystoscopies, too.  

    I'm afraid this is the lot of the cancer survivor.  But after a while it stops preying on your mind constantly, and it's only when a test is immediately due that you start to worry about it.  With my prostate cancer, I used to tell myself that when I'd been clear for 5 years I'd stop worrying about follow up blood tests.  It's now nearly 10 years, and I had a PSA blood test two weeks ago - I worried about it, but not as much I did immediately after treatment. 

    What can I say?  It does get better, but it never entirely leaves you.
