Hi poppyeastham, if you haven't had any scans yet specialist can't know for sure and thares still options for treatment. Hopefully [@woodworm], or [@telemando] will pop on soon to help not trying to scare you but my psa was 1581 when diagnosed in Feb 2016 I'm still here and feeling fine.. Hopefully you'll get more details for us soon so we can help you more....
Billy
Hi,
When n I was diagnosed my psa was 70. After treatment with radiotherapy and two years on hormones, I made a very good recovery. That was nearly ten years ago when I was first diagnosed and modern treatments have advance a lot since then.
Thanks for posting and I wish you luck on your cancer journey, Brian
Thank you very much for your reply. I'm a little low at the moment...
Wow ...your psa was off the scale...I really hope that my scans are positive, Thanks very much for yor messages...
Hi Poppyeastham.
My PSA was 3426 when diagnosed and Im 52 and was/am as fit as a bull. I have bone mets but its all controlled. Had 2nd round of chemo last thursday. There are many new drugs and treatments coming online soon that will make huge advances in prostate [possible.
Im relating it to diabeties, it can't be cured but can be treated (and treated for many years).
Tony
Hi Tony,
Thanks for your response. It really is very encouraging that so many people have their condition controlled. Going for biopsy this afternoon after which, hopefully, I will know much more.
Bill
Hi Bill
Just go for everything and every adventure. Good luck with your biopsy and hopefully its all good news but if its not you can still smash it. My hair was falling out by the handfull but now im rocking the Bruce Willis look so theres always a plus side. My biopsy can back as 4+3 but when you have been diagnosed all these numbers just become guides for the team to work to so don't panick. Take a list of questions with you and belive me there are no daft questions.
Cheers
Tony
Morning Tony,
Love your positivity, makes all the difference to my approach. Biopsy not half as bad as anticipated so that's a bonus. Just waiting for results appointment on 10th March now. As for Bruce Willis I am already there by natural progression and, for now, I still plan to run the London Marathon in 2054 when I am 100 years young.
Also, I will plan that list of questions as you suggest.
Cheers
Bill
Morning Bill
Glad biopsy went ok. Its a little uncomfortable but not bad. The wait is hard for results but don't sit and wait and get worried, celebrate somehow, a meal or even a pint at your local. Its sort of a milestone and no one says you need an excuse. You will pee blood for around 14 days and it can get a bit worrying but its all ok. We have just come back from Harrogate for the night to celebrate my 2nd chemo. I must admit this one has caught me a bit. Not poorly just the fatigue and general tiredness and boy the hot flushes are annoying, but its all about tiny steps and small victories.
Good luck with the marathon i can't fasten my laces with needing a cup of tea and a biscuit followed by a lay down in a dark room. Keep us informed pal.
Tony
