Wow,
First time posting on here and I'm a little nervous.
I first found a lump mid April and finally got a doctors appointment with my GP on the 30th May!!!
Was seen by the breast clinic in the 11th Jun and had a mamorgram, ultrasound along with 2 core biopsies on the lump and 3 fine needle biopsies on the lymph nodes. My consultant said the same day that the lump looked 'suspicious'
I went back for the results on the 21st June and was told I had grade 3 ductal carcinoma. Tbh, I was prepared for the diagnosis after reading on here how many people were diagnosed with cancer after being told a lump looked suspicious, but it was a shock all the same, particularly as it was grade 3.
The mamorgram I had showed M2 (clear with the exception of dense glandular tissue) as I have tiny boobie and struggled to get them in the machine. The fine needle biopsies of the lymph nodes were unreadable due to not enough sample.
On the 1st July I went for an MRI which showed the breast clear of any further cancer but 3 enlarged lymph nodes. I went back for another ultrasound on the 3rd, where I was told I had triple negative invasive ductal carcinoma, and had tests for BRCA on the 4th.
All I've been told is that surgery and chemo will be nessesary but not what surgery I'll be having nor whether I'll have chemo 1st or surgery first.
I go back on the 12th July for (hopefully a treatment plan) but just trying to prepare myself for things before I go.
I have asked for a double masectomy but I guess that will depend on the BRCA gene results.
I'm 43 and have had benign breast lumps before and have had lumpectomies to remove them.
Can anyone advise please?
