Just had a biopsy which was really painful as I have breast implants and they struggled to get it. They were confident it’s just a fibroadenoma but I’m still stressing. Has anyone been told it’s just a fibroadenoma and it turned out to be malignant?

I am waiting on biopsy results and mine was also a (m3/u3)
Hi,
I'm 47 and I'm in the same position. I found a small lump 1.5 cm and was told it's probably fibroadenoma, no family history of cancer etc. However, I do have a lot of boob pain. When I raised it with the consultant he suggested voltral ibuprofen gel to soothe the pain. I've had a biopsy today and will have my results in 10 days. I'm sick with worry but I keep thinking ok ok let's be rational... it's small so even if it's not good news it can be dealt with swiftly. I know it's hard but try to think positive. Breast cancer is now 85% if not higher very survivable. It's good to talk as the anxiety is crippling I completely understand what you are going through. I'm sending positive love to all of us who are waiting upon our results. Together we can do this. Sharing our stories helps others who have the same worries.
I have had my results and I'm pleased to say it's all ok. Sending love to u all. X
Hi Ella, I know this is an old thread but was just wondering how you are doing now ?
I am 43 and have found a large lump that almost protrudes my skin. At first I thought nothing of it as I'm pretty sure I had had a lump there for a number of years and recently had a mirena coil fitted so thought it must had made it grow as both my breasts suddenly became fuller, bigger and itchy. Fortunately I have private healthcare so I was seen immediately.
(I had a horrific experience with the NHS 10 years ago where I had repetitive pneumonia from the age of 23 to 32 and was Bed bound only to be told I was a hypochondriac. Turned out I had a tumour growing in my lung. The op to remove my entire lung was horrific and so were the staff so everything I have goes toward private healthcare because my anxiety is through the roof)
I had a mammogram, ultrasound and core biopsy with 4 samples being taken in the morning and results by the evening, it's a fibroadinoma. I suffer with extreme anxiety due to my experience above so Im very grateful for the quick turnaround.
im now one week on and still black and blue but my breast if really sore and with sharp pains. The fibroadenona is 3cm and my specialist has said we will check it in 6 months time because I am so fearful of another operation - it is my biggest phobia!
He was concerned because whilst 6 years ago I saw him and my breast felt lumpy, it was normal breast tissue on the ultrasound. I never had a mammogram back then. So he's concerned as to how and why a fibro would grow to 3cm is 6 years at the age of 43.
my anxiety is getting the better of me incase there is something more sinister hiding behind the fibro.
I was just wondering if the op was ok, how long til you healed, was there any difference to the look of your breast, has it grown back.. just anything that might be of help.
To anyone else , if you've had a mirena coil fitted did you get any breast lumps? Do they shrink ?
Xx
Hey Dina,
I'm doing well now thank you! Had the fibroadenoma removed, thankfully there was nothing sinister hiding in it which is good!
Contraception can unfortunately do weird things to your body - I ended up having to have a LLETZ procedure after an abnormal smear which I'm pretty sure was due to being on the pill for so long.
Oh bless you that sounds like an awful experience! Unfortunately the NHS isn't great any more, I had a *** experience when I had my LLETZ procedure.
Medical anxiety is the absolute worst. I have really bad anxiety and especially bad medical anxiety given that I had 2 cancer scares in 2 years
I was terrified of having another operation as well but I'm so glad that I had both done as, although it was a lot of anxiety short term, I think if I'd left it then I would have had constant anxiety about it being something sinister. Mine grew 3cm in 6 years and was just a fibroadenoma. I also took the approach that if it was cancer, I'd rather know and get it out of my body.
The op itself was fine, and the healing process wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I was off work for a week and then went back on phased return for a week. My scar is barely visible as it's under my breast so is always covered. My breast looks completely normal, and my fibroadenoma hasn't come back - they did say it was possible it could return but I'm now 2 years on and so far there's nothing.
The scar tissue is slightly tight when I do some exercises but it doesn't hurt, I just don't quite have the same range of movement but it's a minimal difference!
I was in a bit of pain for the first week or 2 but I had codeine and paracetamol and ibuprofen which knocked the pain out and I think I only needed the codeine for a few days.
I slept a lot but that's my bodies reaction to GA more than anything else
I hope that is helpful, let me know if you have any more questions or just want someone to talk to!

Hi, I've recently found a lump in breast had my ultrasound which found a thinking and benign was told I can use a gel to help with the pain which it has for the pain but the lumps seems bigger and my collarbone is very puffy The consultant told me on the day that he thinks it's just fatty tissue so it was an investigated but it's still very puffy so I'm going back to the doctor and hopefully get another referral as my puffiness on the collarbone wasn't there when I went to my doctor the first time round it was only regarding the pain under my armpit has anybody else experienced similar things
Welcome to the forum The although I'm sorry about the lump you've found in your breast.
I can see you were hoping to get a reply from either teacherandmam or some of the other members on this thread, but unfortunately it doesn't seem to have been that active for a while so you may not get a response.
If you don't hear back from anyone, you're welcome to reach out to others on more recent discussions about this or you can start your own.
I hope you've managed to get another appointment with your doctor since making this post and that they're given you a referral which I hope will give you the answers and peace of your mind you're seeking at this time.
Kind regards,
Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
Hi all
i see this post has been ongoing for a while
i had a pain on the side of my breast and was referred onto breast clinic. Had my appointment on Sunday
first saw consultant and he had a feel and said most likely breast muscle as my breasts are very heavy
I also I mammogram which once I had this had to have ultrasound to be told there was what looks like Fibroadenoma on both of my breasts which I could see big white lumps on either scan on the scans infront of me, she said she would like to do a core biopsy and put clip markers in place on both.
Now have to wait 3 weeks for my biopsy report back. I'm so worried I'm not young no more I'm 45 years of age, my mum had lung cancer but I'm aware that doesn't matter as not breast.
im trying to carry on and put to the back of my mind but not easy xx
Hi, I have just come across this thread. I'm sorry for those that didn't get the results they had hoped for.
I'm 30 years old and found a lump in my right breast 3 weeks ago, was referred to breast clinic by GP and had appointment last week.
I had an ultrasound and a biopsy on the day; the nurse who examined me said she felt it was benign so then to be told I need a biopsy I went into shock.
I have just received a letter to state it is a suspected benign fibroadenoma of 4cm but still need to wait for histology report. Is 4cm considered big or small?
this sounds promising but I still feel sick with worry waiting for the biopsy results x
Hey,
That happened to me as well - I had 3 fibroadenomas very close together forming one big one so I ended up getting biopsied when I was 18 and then again when I was 26 as mine was 5cm in diameter by then (it grew from about 2-3cm when I first found it)
I wanted it taken out anyway as it was annoying as it was so big but they ended up wanting to take it out as well because of its size. The surgery was pretty straightforward and I'm so glad I got it removed.
The wait for results is awful though, try and distract yourself as much as you can - I did a lot of yoga to help x
