    Hi BigJean,

What a relief to have your surgery behind you at long last. I am so sorry to hear that the breast care nurse came up and burst your bubble so quickly. As WL said, this was rather insensitive. Still, try not to dwell on this.

I was initially told that my type of cancer was one of the less aggressive forms, yet I had another diagnosis within the year. Since I was dianosed with my second bout, I have always lived in fear of another recurrence, but you learn to live with it.

Sorry to hear about the turn you took today - as you said, possibly just trying to do too much too soon. I saw a nurologist on Saturday re turns that I've been taking in the past couple of years. He has referred me for a brain scan. My mum lived with primary breast cancer for 12 years before it metastasised in her brain, bones, liver and lungs. At 10½ years since diagnosis, you can imagine my train of thought. Hopefully, it's just a side-effect of medication.

I hope that you are not in hospital for too long and that all heals well.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

    Hi WoollyLamb,

I hope that your temperature is going down now and, that you are getting more used to the drains. They can be a nuisance, but they won’t be in for long. You must be doing well if they are talking about letting you out on Monday.
    Kind Regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi @bigjean

How are you getting on? I was discharged yesterday with one drain, and I have a Doppler wire still in situ. Got to go back tomorrow to have both removed so hopefully will be a little freer to move around. Struggling to get comfy to sleep but I prefer to be at home than in the hospital. Hope you are doing ok.

  • Hi

I think I was in longer because of the reconstruction, they needed to make sure that the flap didn't die, they were checking me every 15 minutes for the first 24 hours, then every 30 minutes. and my temp was up and down like a yo yo. Just hope they take this stuff out tomorrow As it's painful now.  Managing the rest of the pain with paracetamol.

Glad to hear you are out, makes such a difference to be in your own home.

We definitely did do it, were nearer the end than the beginning now.

    Hi Woolylamb,

I found a small heart shaped pillow, which I placed under my arm a great help in making it easier to sleep. You might find this helpful too.

I hope that all goes well with getting your drain and Doppler wire removed tomorrow.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

    Hi BigJean,

I'm glad to hear that you got home today and hope that you are doing well and are not too uncomfortable.

    Thinking of you,

  • Hi woollylamb, bigjean and jolamine

sorry not been on again but have struggled with this paxotaxin or whatever it’s calked. The pain even with strong painkillers is taking me out of action for a few days but my last cycle is next Friday - whoop whoop!! I’m going to hang off that bell lol x

glad to hear your ops have gone well ladies. My drain was in for about seven days and was a relief when taken out. If you had lymph nodes removed please do the exercises given but don’t push it, take it nice and easy. At first it’s hard and sore and can’t really move the car but over time it just becomes easier. I would say I nearly have full movement back but now it looks like lymphodema so occasionally I am restricted in movement but they have given me an exercise to do for next few weeks to see if it helps.

thank you ladies for being on here. I know I haven’t supported you as much as I would have liked but for me just reading your comments about your journey and your experiences have given me comfort that I wasn’t on my own and y thoughts/fears are natural x
