Endometrial cancer

Hello everyone - world turned upside down with a diagnosis of cancer in womb yesterday. Only went to see GP a week ago about water infection and scan yesterday revealed otherwise. Op arranged in 10 days time so all happening incredibly fast and I’m a bit she’ll shocked and I know I haven’t listened properly to GP etc about what is going to happen so I’m consulting Dr Google which is a stupid thing to do. If anyone has had endometrial cancer post menopause I would appreciate any information especially if it is known to spread. Thank you

  • Su so glad yours did not hurt and I wish I was one of those who sailed through it but mine was horrendous I had severe stomach cramps, nearly fainted my legs were killing me and I bleed for 7 days after so we had to stop I am having it done again under general anesthetic

I have a low psin threshold and its been about 8 years since my menopsuse so getting through cervix was so painful

  • Hi All,

new to all this, I've held off posting but decided to fire away as I'm just sitting home worrying. I'm 37 years old I had my third baby 10 months ago. Whilst I was breast feeding before my period came back I was having a strange discharge it was sometimes yellow sometimes greeny brown. I thought it was BV so got some over the counter suppositories that didn't work so thought maybe I had thrush so got some canenstan suppositories which again didn't help. Anyhow I decided it must be hormonal and decided to stop breast feeding. A couple of months later my period came back but it was ridiculously heavy, I was having to wear both a super tampon and a night pad together and changed them after 1 1/2 hours. I waited a few months to see would they settle but after four months they didn't so went to the gp. She sent me for a pelvic US which showed up a mass ?polyp ?fibroid. I was referred to a gynae and he did a trans vaginal US which showed thickened endometrium and a a lump which is 18mm in size. I've to go in on the 17th of Aug for polypectomy and D&C under general anaesthetic. I'm worried sick my gp has said endometrial cancer is typically a post menopausal illness but there are always exceptions. The waiting is awful

  • So sorry to hear your so worried I know it hard not to. I hope the news is good when you get it kerp us informed. I also new hesr and just thought it might help to talk to people going through it. I must admit tge hospital have been very nice, but it hard not being able to have anyone with us due to covid. I am disabled and my husband normally helps me  but had several nurses helping me.

    Virtual hugsxxx

  • Thanks for responding! Just can't wait to have it behind me! At this point I just wish I knew either way so that if it turns out to be something sinister I can just focus on getting over that! Otherwise I just want it behind me so I can move on and forget this worry!

  • I here where you are coming from I hope the days pass fast having dreadful day today but just wanted you to know I care hugs x

  • Lines hope things are going well for you and hope your coping virtual hugs

  • hi, hope you don't mind me jumping in on your thread, i just wondered if you have had a diagnosis? I have the same symptoms as you bright red bleeding like a period followed by brown discharge on and off, and i am worried sick, I can't have a biopsy due to having had an ablation. i have had a couple of scans one which showed a endometrium of 12mm and then the other that showed an endometrium of 4mm. If you don't mind replying that would be great. I'm 53 years old and haven't had a period for so long! x

  • Hiya

Sorry hope you dont mind me jumping on all your threads. I'm 45, pre-menopause, was told Sept 2018 that I have Endometrial Hyperplasia and so had a coil fitted. Periods stayed normal and nice and regular for a while. Doc said Sept 2019 when I was ready for a hysterectomy let her know and she'd refer me, but at the time I was looking after my dad. So 2020 came and Covid set in. My periods are now continuous and have been for 5 months, back pain, legs ache. So I've been back onto my GP and I've been referred but I dont know how long things will take as I'm now waiting for a phone consultation. We've got a son so we're not worried about a hysterectomy. I've got family history of early hysterectomy's, so think theres a bit of a theme going on. Hope you're all staying safe xx

  • I have just had my diagnosis and got the all clear its now just sorting out the  lining  whuch will be treated with meriva coil and maybe some tablets I still have the discharge and occasional bleeding but know its nothing too worrying. I still find it weird to have stomach pains bleeding abd discharge long after the menopause but it should be better with treatment. I have atrial fibulation, angina and had a stroke abd several Tia,s  and thinning of heart  wall which they think might be hole They dud my biopsy using a spinal injection which meant I could feel nothing from waist  down felt very strange but was much safer. Maybe ask your consultant if its possible ti do  biopsy  using spinal methid I also have degeratuve soine so they had to be careful . Uts worth asking to put your mind at rest I wish you all the best please keep in touch xxx hugs

  • Hope they are able to sort it for you. I had meruval coil fitted some time back to stop heavy periods it was fabulous for first 4 year I expected my go to contact me when it was due fir removal they did not and I never realised I was having continual water infection and stomach pain they investigated abd at that time fiund I had a dermoid cyst 6mm in size in my left ovary so I had coil taken out and left ovary and cyst removed whuch cleared up my UTI,s

However I now have UTI,s again I hope tgey sort it fir you mand I wish in a way they had given me a hysteroscopy and I would not have had to go through all these ussyes during covid which is scary and worrying I wish you all the best di stsy in touch I hope they can do you operation sooner rather than later
