Endometrial cancer

Hello everyone - world turned upside down with a diagnosis of cancer in womb yesterday. Only went to see GP a week ago about water infection and scan yesterday revealed otherwise. Op arranged in 10 days time so all happening incredibly fast and I’m a bit she’ll shocked and I know I haven’t listened properly to GP etc about what is going to happen so I’m consulting Dr Google which is a stupid thing to do. If anyone has had endometrial cancer post menopause I would appreciate any information especially if it is known to spread. Thank you

  • Hi all. I'm probably worrying over nothing. You know how you Google things and just make things worse. I'm 46 and always had regular periods. In Feb/Mar I started spotting between periods, sent for a routine internal scan, comeback abnormal with thickened endometrium of 18mm and a vascular area, my fibroid had shrunk slightly, slighlty bulky womb. I was referred for gynaechology Mid March and Covid happened. My bleeding between periods only lasted 2-3 months. End of May I contacted the Dr to tell her I had started to get right sided ovulation pain, she escalated my appointment to urgent on the 1st June. I do get mild spasms now and again in my pelvic area and last two days lower back pain, but that may be all it is. My last period was heavy with a very large clot. I had my first gynachology appointment today, who suspect I could have a polyp and need to do a Hysteroscopy. They said I could be seen in the next 2-6 weeks to have this done. My concern is the 18mm thickness. Good news was in that in beginning of June my CA125 was normal.

  • I'm in same sort of thing to you , I go on Tuesday for hysterectomy , had irregular periods, bleeding after sex , lower tummy pains and back ! Water discharge!! I've googled over last month thousands of times n same thing got the C word ,, google is horrible doesn't help anxiety and adds to the fear !! So sorry for everyone feeling this way , as I know how it feels , can't eat , sleep worrying sick !! I last month had test on cervix to , had silver nitrate done said I had a erosion took a biopsy and they just come back clear ,, now this in womb found on ultrasound so waiting on Tuesday test now , feels so much going on at once ! They said to me thickening of womb and polyp? Scared so much !!

  • I wish you the very best of luck. Yes google is not a great thing at times. I know it's easier said than done but I always try and tell myself than worrying is not going to change anything  it will only make me feel worse. I have just received a call today following my appointment for 4th Aug. I'm impressed.

  • Its such an uncertain time.

I have a transvaginal ultrasound booked for tomorrow morning. If lining still thick and suspected Polyp showing ill be booked in for hysterscopy. Gynae also considered my lining being thick on transadominal scan due to me being due on my period at that time.

Let me know how you get on.

So many things go through my mind. Just trying to remain positive. X

  • Hi,

I had my second hysteroscopy with a polypectomy & several biopsies & really doesn't hurt. Slight cramp when they dilate your cervix but other than that it's fine. It's the waiting for the results that's getting me anxious.

    Wish you ladies luck ️
