Endometrial cancer

Hello everyone - world turned upside down with a diagnosis of cancer in womb yesterday. Only went to see GP a week ago about water infection and scan yesterday revealed otherwise. Op arranged in 10 days time so all happening incredibly fast and I’m a bit she’ll shocked and I know I haven’t listened properly to GP etc about what is going to happen so I’m consulting Dr Google which is a stupid thing to do. If anyone has had endometrial cancer post menopause I would appreciate any information especially if it is known to spread. Thank you

  • Hi there my name is Lesley I an newly diagnosed and in a shell shocked anxious state just wondered how ur doing xx

  • hi

i had an endometrial cancer diagnosis in april this year,  had bleeding / offensive smell, had ultrasound & hysteroscopy which found a large polyp and thickened lining,  had laproscopic hysterectomy surgery  a few weeks later in may and am now  passed cancer free - the surgery is all that was needed thankfully.    I only had an overnite stay  and basic pain relief for a week or so. Mine was very early stage 1a , I am 47 years old,  so the surgery put me straight into menopause.  My  gynae consultant & support team at my local hospital  have been , and still are, fantastic

Have a read through everyones different experiences, as each is different , depending on individual circumstances.  Earlier in the year , on here ,i did a quick re-cap of `my` experience.

Everyone on here has been SO SUPPORTIVE.

You know your`e own body, don`t be fobbed off be ANYONE

if you want to message me privately on here thats fine

    take care

  • Ty so much for your reply I have fr req u I live in Hertfordshire and am just 60 yrs old. I was diagnosed on Monday and on tranquilizers to cope having an MRI and Ct on Monday x

  • Hiya, I'm new to this site and have posted but had no replies, sorry to jump on your post,

I'm currently waiting for biopsy results, I'm 46, had abnormal heavy periods (always been light) periods a bit irregular, my gp said it was start of menopause,

Was finally referred for internal scan, the radiologist said he saw a polyp and measured at 10mm, referred for hysteroscopy,  the gyny consultant said it wasnt a polyp but needed to take biopsy, I asked him what he saw and he was very evasive and said I'd get results through post in 2 -3 weeks?

  • hi

tks for replying to my post

the waiting for results is scary, cos you just don`t know whats happening,

the hysteroscopy is not painful , just a little uncomfortable, but  nurses are there to re-assure  /hand-hold etc.  They could not remove my polyp as it was too big, but did a lining biopsy which felt like a little cramp for a few seconds.

It really helps if you can get someone to go with you to the appointment for support.

I hope all goes well for you

if you want to talk privately off here, just `friend request` me

    best wishes

  • Hiya

I had the hysteroscopy last Monday, expecting to have polyp removed, the radiologist said polyp and my pre appointment with gyny said polyp,

But during hysteroscopy he said theres no polyp but needs to take biopsy from the same area? I asked him " if it's not a polyp then what is it"

He was very evasive with me and just said, biopsy results will be direct to my home in 2-3 weeks

If something showed on vaginal scan yet consultant said it's not a polyp, why couldn't he tell me what it was?

  • Hi Abbie sorry to jump on your post but I’m going through same how are u now ? X

  • Hi there I’m at the exact same stage as you have u had ur MRI yet ? X

  • I'm waiting for biopsy results so not been offered anything else, I'm worried like all on here, the waiting is agonising, I'm just *** off that the gyny consultant said my vaginal scan showed a polyp 10mm yet during hysteroscopy he said theres no polyp but I need a biopsy? I kept asking him, what is it then if it's not a polyp, he was almost ignoring me and just said that I'd get results through the post.

I suffer with anxiety anyway so some sort of answer from him would have been nice

  • I was referred for trans vaginal scan and abdo scan in late october, I saw gyny consultant mid november, my hysteroscopy was last monday, with the veiw of just removing a polyp.

During hysteroscopy he said theres no polyps but needed a biopsy, I kept asking what it was he was taking biopsy from if theres no polyp, he basically ignored me, took biopsy then walked out the room, the nurses were lovely and I asked them the same question, they were evasive too and confirmed my address for biopsy results to be sent to?

Theres obviously something on the lining of my womb? But definitly not a polyp or fibroid? I'm so confused and scared
