My mum has been diagnosed with breast cancer, she is in complete shock. There was no pain & she felt ok one morning she woke up with sore arm and unable to lift it up. There was a swelling in armpit only & she though she had hurt herself
she went to Gp two days later & was told she had an infection, the gp gave her a prescription to ease swelling.. the swelling has disappeared before her appointment a the breast clinic.
at the breast clinic she had a mammogram, ultrasound & two biopsys.we were told that the mammogram & ultra sound were clear. The core boispy wasn't back at that time so they said they didn't know why the gland lympnode was swollen.
mum was called back two weeks later for test results and they told us that there had been cancer cells found in her lympnodes in her armpit. That day they took further mammograms & ultra sounds & 6 biopsy. Some of the biopsy came back showing that they had found two tumours in her right breast.
The specialist told us that he wanted to check for spreading, now we are awaiting the other biopsys, blood tests & cat scan. I am terrified that the cancer may have spread elsewhere, is this standard procedure?
We need to return to the specialist this week for all test results. He has already said that my mum should have her right breast & lympnodes removed, what stage cancer do you think I'm describing, we are out of our minds with worry
any help & advise would be appreciated
