Hi, my name is Peter and after PET scan a nodule was found in my lower left lung, when shown the scan the nodule was lit up like a Christmas tree......I was informed that the radiated glucose that was injected sticks to the cancer cells and shows up on the PET scan.
Since the scan I have had a ECG, Heart & Lung function test and another type of scan sorry forgot the name but it is the same they use on pregnant women. I have also seen the Anaesthetist and now waiting to see the Surgeon, I was told two weeks ago that surgery would be in approx four weeks.
From original diagnosis it has taken two weeks to get this far and can thank the NHS for there prompt diagnosis and treatment so far.
If anyone has had a similar diagnosis information on the surgery would be appreciated ie where would the incision be & where does the incision start and end, how long is the stay in Hospital, has anyone had their own blood taken pre opp in case it is needed.
I think the waiting is the worst part to see after the opp if it has spread to the Lymph glands etc, perhaps even the Lucie the moderator or nurse could help with my questions.
All the best everyone and thank you for taking the time to read this and try and stay positive as great advances have been made in the treatment of Cancer, and remember it is good to talk to family & friends as they also are going through this with you and are sometimes afraid to talk about the subject in fear of upsetting you.
Peter
