Advice please on surgery on Aorta ...spread of Kidney cancer

Hi

I am having surgery to remove/biopsy a lesion on my Aorta in three weeks which I have been told could be a spread of kidney cancer I had removed last year.

I am really confused as it was a Stage 1 Grade 1 clear cell papillary carcenoma and was successfully removed requiring no further treatment. Can this kind of cancer being Stage 1 Grade 1 spread or may I be facing another cancer from somewhere! I really don’t know too much about all this and have been told to stop googling!

This lesion is on the back of my descending Aorta and in a tricky place by the spinal column and my lung. I would be very grateful if anyone has had similar treatment or a spread to the aorta who can give me any advice.

Thank you very much

  • Hi Ann,

I know you mentioned you're a bit confused about what has happened so I just wanted to stop by and give you our cancer nurses telephone number so you can have a chat with them about this next week. Their freephone number is 0808 800 4040 and are available Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m so do give them a call when you can as they will hopefully be able to give you some insight.

Do also chat to your medical team about this again if you can so you can get clarification on what they said. As they have access to your medical history they will be in the best position to clear this up for you.

I hope your surgery goes well when the time comes Ann and that you're able to get the answers you are seeking.

    Kind regards,
