I am sorry to learn about what has been going on, it sounds like you have been through a lot.

I am not sure if things have improved a bit since Monday, I do hope so, but if not it would be a good idea to get in touch with the hospital docs to ask if this okay in your situation. It can take a while for swelling to settle down after surgery but I am afraid I can’t tell you how long it will take for you.  If you are unable to follow the instructions you were given, I think you need to let your medical team know and ask if you should be doing something else. 

This is sure to improve in time,  although most people have good and bad days on the road to recovery.

Hi im 60 years old had my tonsils out about 5 years ago .not nice experience and very painful .i found i could eat soup scrambled eggs .readybrek porridge .after few days gp prescribed stronger pain relief cant remember exactly but think was co.codamol quite high strenght were dissolvable would drink it bout 20 mins before eating even felt helpful drinking it .that really made eating much easier .could alspo make u bit drowsy which was good thing good luck
