Ovarian cancer - operation will be in the next 2 weeks but it feels like the longest days of my life. Does anyone have any tips on how to cope with the wait?

Hugs and support sent to you before you even read this if you are here because you or a loved one has a cancer diagnosis.
i am in between diagnosis and waiting for a date for surgery. The surgeon said he will operate within the next 2 weeks. I have a date for the pre-op assessment but that is 10 days from my Consultant appointment. I keep trying to think of it in positive ways you know, shorter than a 2 week holiday but it feels like the longest few days of my life especially knowing that this type of cancer develops quickly. Anyone else relate to this and recommend suggestions for ways to cope especially in the early hours of the morning?

  • Hi

I see   has recommended you join a specific cancer support group. If you go to macmillans forum it is split into the different cancer types so its easier to speak to people in the same situation as you. Xx

  • Hello Bungle1 thank you for the advice. Much appreciated xx best wishes to you whatever journey you are on xx

Look in the ovarian cancer group for support/advice. When I was awaiting surgery, after 3 chemo sessions, I thought about how much better things should be after because they were going to remove all signs of cancer they could see and the following 3 cycles of chemo were for making sure everything had been taken away. My diagnosis in 2023 was Primary Peritoneum Cancer Stage 3C. I had 16 months in remission then a recurrence in 2025. I had the same chemo treatment and after 4 cycles I am in remission again.

It is a difficult time waiting for surgery but try and have positive thoughts and keep as active as you possibly can. Sending healing vibes,
