Ovarian cancer - operation will be in the next 2 weeks but it feels like the longest days of my life. Does anyone have any tips on how to cope with the wait?

Hugs and support sent to you before you even read this if you are here because you or a loved one has a cancer diagnosis.
i am in between diagnosis and waiting for a date for surgery. The surgeon said he will operate within the next 2 weeks. I have a date for the pre-op assessment but that is 10 days from my Consultant appointment. I keep trying to think of it in positive ways you know, shorter than a 2 week holiday but it feels like the longest few days of my life especially knowing that this type of cancer develops quickly. Anyone else relate to this and recommend suggestions for ways to cope especially in the early hours of the morning?

  • Hi Teresa26,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I know it's never easy when waiting for appointments - particularly if you don't yet know the date for it.

There will be others here who can relate to this, and who may be going through something similar. Hopefully some more people will see your post and send a reply.

We have a post here about how to cope with waiting for news - which although is slightly different to your situation, some of the tips and advice towards the bottom of the post may still be useful.

We are always here for support whenever you need it and I hope the forum can be helpful for you.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
