I am a 75 year old woman. I was diagnosed with stage 3c primary peritoneal cancer in February 2023. Chemo didn’t start until June because of waiting list! Had chemo, Carbo and and Paclitaxel with cool cap. Plan was 3 rounds of chemo then if tumours shrunk enough surgery and another 3 rounds of chemo. Things have gone to plan with some delays with chemo due to bloods. Had a CT scan on 5 January 2024 and should have had results last week but due to doctors’ strikes, I have been told, I am hoping to get the result next week now. The BRCA1 test came back negative but I still haven’t had the BRCA2 result despite the tests being taken at the end of May last year.
I liked the cool cap! Medical staff couldn’t believe it but I have always had a hot head so especially during the summer months I found it very nice! I lost some hair about 2 weeks after my first chemo but not after that. My hair has thinned but it is growing back now. A cool cap doesn’t suit everybody but I was glad I decided to give it a go.
