Anal cancer diagnosis - waiting for treatment and getting anxious

I have been recently diagnosed and feel so so low as I feel there is a stigma attached but am a happily married Middle Ages woman !! I am awaiting treatment and am getting so anxious I can’t sleep as the waiting list for oncology is unbelievable and is it spreading !!

  • Hello, I am in exactly the same position! The waiting is agonising isn’t it? My chemo/ radio finally starting next week, so scared. Wishing you all the best. Do you have a plan now? Good to hear from someone that has been through the treatment and come out the other side

  • Hi

Good luck for next week. You will soon be out the other side. Any questions just ask. Sending hugs

  • Thank you! Were you very poorly with the treatment? I’m not sure how to prepare - have ordered some flamygel and trying to maintain my weight and eat healthily. Hard to keep active though as I’m so tired x x

  • Hi

I wasn't to bad with the treatment, it wasn't a walk in the park but not as bad as i expected. I had bad wind pain from day 1 but cutting veg specifically green helped with this, the skin got quite sore as time went on and towards the end and post for a while i had a lot of mucous and having a poo was painful. Try to remember though we all react and cope with treatment differently. In terms of how to prepare i would say moisturise well all the time. The things i couldnt have done without were mens baggy boxers, water wipes and a limbo sleeve. Quite a few people on a different forum all had sitz baths on their lists and rate them (i never got one). Xx
