Cervical Cancer

Hi, I’m newly diagnosed with cervical cancer stage and just wondering if anyone else is going through the same or has?

I take regular pain relief but still struggle daily

  • Hi ellsbells1903,

Getting a new cancer diagnosis is always a bit of a shock and there is so much to take in that I can imagine it has all been a bit of a struggle for you both physically and emotionally. You are not alone though and I wanted to make sure you have other people on Cancer Chat to talk to who are also newly diagnosed with cervical cancer or who have had the same diagnosis in the past. I've come across quite a few threads in the last few months from members who have had a cervical cancer diagnosis and have been through treatment or are waiting to start treatment.  posted this thread  about her cervical cancer diagnosis which you are welcome to respond to if you wish.  also posted her cervical cancer thread  three months ago and was at the time on her 5th chemotherapy cycle and  also shared her cervical cancer story.  would be another great person for you to connect with as this member's mum was diagnosed with cervical cancer a couple of months ago and posted this thread on our forum. These are only a handful of examples but don't hesitate to respond to anyone you feel you would like to find out more about and share experiences with.

You mentioned that you are taking regular pain relief but if you feel that the pain relief is not helping enough, it is important that you mention this to your medical team so that you have the most adequate pain relief and feel as pain free as possible. There is a section on our website on cancer and pain control which I invite you to read and which I hope you will find useful.

You can also ring our nurses on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their helpline is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm and don't hesitate to ask them any questions if there is anything that is on your mind and you would like to discuss with them.

I will now let other members who have been affected by cervical cancer in any way come forward and say hello. It helps to talk to others here who are or have been in the same boat.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi

i I was diagnosed with cervical cancer in November , it is stage 2 a/b . I have had the combined chemo ,carboplatin and paclitaxel for first six weeks once a week. . I wore cold cap so l kept my hair . It’s a worry when on chemo of sickness and nausea but was given plenty of meds to keep it at bay .i then finished that and went on to chemo radiotherapy . This was 5 weeks of daily rads and weekly chemo of cisplatin . My bloods were so shot that I only managed 2 chemos . I then finished with 3 doses of brachytherapy . This was my treatment plan which I understand is the norm . I have stated all this because if you have any questions etc or any help or advise I can give please ask . Kind regards val
