How best to address secondary breast cancer

Hello, a member of my family has been so strong and brave with breast cancer over the past year, has a young family herself and recently diagnosed with secondary cancer. Please can I respectfully ask, how do others feel most comfortable with friends and family treating and speaking with you? Thank you

  • Hi anaunt,  I have secondary breast cancer with mets in spine and pelvis.  I find it is better if family and friends treat you normally and talk as they would normally.  I think it is better to try and stick to same routine whenever possible.  I think maybe different for everyone, but personally I prefer everyone to treat me normally and I talk about it when and if I feel like it.  I hope it helps and wish your family member lots of luck x

  • Dear Leelaloo

Thank you so much for your time to reply and I am most grateful. I think your judgement is very wise and it really helps.

I wish you all positive wishes and strength in your journey.

    Kindest regards
