Newly diagnosed with Prostate Cancer

Still in a state of shock but need to choose a treatment option. I really don’t want urinary issues or ED. I would welcome comments from those who have been treated. Thank you.

  • Hi johnnySeven,

Im sure how you feel about it, you’re not alone we’re in the same boat, I was diagnosed a couple months ago, But Im sure you gonna be Ok because they caught your CA on time which is currable and many options of treatment, what gleason score you have?

  • Thanks buybuyage for the reassurance. My oncologist reckons they have a success rate “in the high 90’s” for cancer like mine and I am into my second month of hormone therapy with no noticeable side effects so far. My radiotherapy is booked for February so I have some way to go but I’m hoping to have the all clear by May or June next year. My Gleason score was 3+4.

  • Hi Johnny, sorry to hear of your diagnosis but your in good hands , i was diagnosed 4 yrs ago a month before covid, i had hormone therapy for 3 yrs and 25 sessions of radiotherapy and i'm happy to say that i've been clear for over 3 yrs now. I'll give you one piece of advice regarding the radiotherapy, about 2 weeks into the treatment you will get the feeling of wanting to go to the toilet all the time, and i mean no2, its very uncomfortable and painful but they can give you a supposetary to relieve the pain, so my advice would be for you to tell the nurses about a week in about it, mine came on a Friday so i was'nt back till Monday so i suffered the whole wknd with it. Other than that its a piece of cake and good luck and try not to worry too much.

  • Hi Daver57. Congratulations on beating this thing. I hope you continue to remain clear. And thanks for the advice. My radiotherapy is scheduled for February. Fingers crossed it my prognosis is good.
