ANXIETY!

I’ve just recently been initially diagnosed with DCIS but this will possibly be upgraded to invasive, they are doing further testing on the biopsy. And my anxiety is through the roof, I have so many physical symptoms - heart palpitations, tight chest, pains all over, difficulty breathing, can’t eat and not sleeping well. All these symptoms are making me think that cancer has spread everywhere. What can I do? I have 2 young kids and can’t function. Does anyone have any coping strategies?

  • Hi there! I was told I have cancer yesterday - I need to wait for mri etc to determine prognosis and treatment. I also have two young children and I can say I feel exactly the same as you. I have been throwing up from anxiety and haven't slept. Trying to act normally around my children is hard.

Sorry I can't give you any coping strategies as I am.struggling with it myself. Just wanted to say I know how you feel and dealing with unknown is torture. Here if you need to chat. Sending love xx

  • Thank u so much for your reply, it’s nice to hear from someone else, but I’m so sorry u are going through the same thing. I think once we have all the info and a plan we will feel better but this initial part is just torture. How old are your kids? I have 2 boys, 3 year old and 18 month old x

  • Agreed. I kinda hoped when they said - it's cancer - then a door would open and I would get tests and something more concrete to work with. But this waiting is just awful and I'm not even 24hrs in to it.

I also have 2 boys but they are 6 and 8. That's quite a lot of stress on your shoulders with toddlers xx
