Oncologist appointment tomorrow - what questions should I ask?

After being diagnosed on 18th January and going through all the various test, I finally get to see the oncologist tomorrow. Would like to hear from anyone who has any suggestions about what questions would be good to ask.

Also what are your experiences of how long it took for treatment to start after first oncology appointment. As my breast cancer is grade 3 and fast growing, I'm worried about it spreading, before my treatment even gets started.

Was it suggested you have a PICC line or port?

  • Hi everyone, was great to finish chemo yesterday and get to ring that bell at last. They observed hubby giving first phesgo injection and all went well. Off to have ultrasound this afternoon, hopefully will see more improvements. Hope you are all doing OK. Xxx

  • Ah congrats Pippin!!

And well done to the hubby too. Are there any side effects to the Phesgo injections?

How are you feeling post your last chemo? Hope you're doing ok!

...and hope the ulttrasound goes well and that keeping everything crossed for improvements!..keep us posted.

I am FINALLY feeling back to "normal" after my last round...energy levels seem to have been restored which i'm very happy about - it's been hard to celebrate as have been feeling so rubbish! The last round was hard work!...But seem to be feeling so much better today thankfully.....Off to Isle of Wight for a few days on Friday with the family and another family and I CAN'T WAIT! So nice knowing no more chemo!!!!

    hope you're all doing ok!

    xx

  • Hi Greeny,

I am delighted to hear that you are feeling better today. I hope that you enjoy the Isle of Wight. The break should pick you up before you start on the next stage.

The scald was quite an unexpected experience. Over a month ago, I spilt the coffee over my tummy, whilst attending hospital. It was sore, but bearable. Just  2 days later it came up in huge blisters, which started to burst. The nurses have been dressing it regularly ever since and it is at last beginning to look better. Unfortunately, the coffee spilt over a large scar, which I have from breast to groin. This took nearly 3 years to heal completely after surgery, so I was concerned that I might have problems with healing again.

Here's hoping that the weather improves for your break.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi Greeny80,  sorry I seem to have missed replying to your last message. It's hard to know the side effects of the phesgo, as been having them since starting docetaxel. I have been haveing few issues with diarrhoea, but hoping this will stop them chemo finishes. Just hoping it's not the phesgo causing it, we shall see. I hit a bit of a dip with energy levels the last couple days, hope this will improve in the next few   days. Ultrasound really went well which I was really pleased about. Apparently tumours are now vague, which is a hood sign. The area showing cell is no longer visible and lymph node area has shown good improvement. Have an mri on Tuesday, then see the surgeon the 25th. Will be good to have a plan moving forward. Pleased to hear you are now feeling back to normal and your energy levels are now good. Have a lovely trip away to the Isle of Wight and enjoy yourself. Xxx
