(Brain Tumour) Call for anyone to chat to me, feel like I'm spiralling.

Recent diagnosis, in a dark and lonely place.

  • Hi Alex    So sorry to hear your post . Please consider ringing Maggie’s . You can either make an appointment to go in or just chat to someone over the phone .All of the cancer helplines will have someone that you will be able to talk to. Please don’t try to deal with this on your own , talking to someone and having a good cry can help a little . Sending a hug xx

  • Hi Alex,

I can see you've received some good advice already but I just wanted to let you know that if you ever need someone to talk to overnight or during the early hours of the morning when no-one else is around, the Samaritans are always available on 116 123. Their phone lines are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and they are there to listen and will do all they can to help you work through whatever is troubling you or playing on your mind at that moment in time.

As you can see from LCR's reply, the Cancer Chat community are here for you as well and really do understand what you're going through but if you'd like to discuss anything about your diagnosis with one of cancer nurses, they are available Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m on 0808 800 4040.

We're thinking of you Alex and sending our strength and support your way.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator

  • Hey Alex,

  • Hi Alex

On top of the good advice the folks have listed - I just wanted to say feel free to send me a message or ask for an easier way to contact me.

While I'm not a patient myself, my fiancé was just diagnosed with a lung/pleural sarcoma 2 days ago. I can't pretend to know what you are going through, but I'm more than happy to chat about anything.

I'm a few years younger than you but not that far off.

Hobbies include keeping animals (dog, cat, chickens, ducks, geese - bit wild), growing veg, politics, progressional road cycling, technology, environment, cars, brewing beer.

I'm not a dad but we were planning on trying for a baby before this cropped up. I would be very grateful to hear stories about your experience as a new dad.

I've experienced very severe depression, nothing like what you are going through but I have "spiralled" myself.

I can't offer you any practical advice but I can offer my time. Doesn't seem like much and I appreciate "internet strangers" aren't for everyone.

If anything like that sounds up your street then do get in touch mate.

    All the best

  • What a lovely kind caring post ,I hope Alex gets in touch with you for a chat ,it sometimes makes all the difference when you have someone who cares enough to chat especially when you're struggling .
