Been told I have breast cancer

I'm currently waiting for my biopsy results and I'm so so scared. My children are teenage girls studying GCSE AND A LEVELS and are so upset about what's going to happen to me. My consultant said it's definitely cancer and we have to wait until next Friday to see what the treatment plan is going to be and I'm so scared I'm going to die and not be her for my girls .

  • Try not to worry we all think that way but don't,not everyone passes away,I had breast cancer and I went through chemo and surgery and radiotherapy they managed to remove the lump and now I'm cancer free so there are happy endings to it all, just wait and see they will give you a plan it's just the unknown that is worrying, they will put your mind at rest just keep strong x

  • just an update on my results of my biopsy they have said it's a mixed cancer and they need to do a MRI to see if I need just a lumpectomy or a mastectomy. They have also booked me in for surgery on the 1st of march. So got to wait until next Friday to get the results of the MRI all this waiting is so hard

  • Ahhhh... good news you have a date!... something to focus on. The waiting is so hard - I'd say it's much harder than the treatment itself. The MRI is just them narrowing down on exactly what they need to remove/ precise measurements etc. it may not feel like it but it's all progress, and whatever the MRI concludes, this time next month you will be post-op recovering.

Don't be surprised/ worried if they call you for other tests between now and your op - everyone is different of course but I had more ultrasounds and a CT scan, and the two lovely ladies I was in a ward with in hospital had also had other scans running up to their operation... it's all making sure the surgeons have all the info they need when they operate.
