Second cancer

Hi all I had kidney cancer around 4 years ago, it was a class 4 cancer.

I had the kidney and cancer removed successfully,  I've been on the observation list going for my regular check ups on time .

Then 2 weeks before Christmas I was called back to the hospital and told I had a growth on my liver, my consultant said he was treating it as 99% cancer because of my history.

I've been in and had a MRI this week and I'm now waiting to for an appointment again.

The problem I have is my mind is in turmoil with dreadful thoughts,  I feel like I've already lost without even seeing the specialist, I need to speak with someone who can help me.

I have just had a major argument with my wife over a stupid thing of no consequence, I feel like my whole world is falling apart, the thing is I need to know but I'm frightened of finding out.

What can I do please someone help.

I'm so sorry to hear that you're struggling at the moment. This period of waiting for diagnosis and treatment plan can be unbearably difficult for many people and it's natural that you're feeling as you've described.

It really can help to talk to someone about things and I wanted to let you know about our team of nurses here at CRUK. If you'd like to speak with them I'm sure they will be happy to offer any help and support that they can. They're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040 (excluding bank holidays). Give them a call.

I hope that you have some news and reassurance from the Consultant soon. Keep in touch and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
