Second cancer

Hi all I had kidney cancer around 4 years ago, it was a class 4 cancer.

I had the kidney and cancer removed successfully,  I've been on the observation list going for my regular check ups on time .

Then 2 weeks before Christmas I was called back to the hospital and told I had a growth on my liver, my consultant said he was treating it as 99% cancer because of my history.

I've been in and had a MRI this week and I'm now waiting to for an appointment again.

The problem I have is my mind is in turmoil with dreadful thoughts,  I feel like I've already lost without even seeing the specialist, I need to speak with someone who can help me.

I have just had a major argument with my wife over a stupid thing of no consequence, I feel like my whole world is falling apart, the thing is I need to know but I'm frightened of finding out.

What can I do please someone help.

  • Hi Chris,

I hope you are ok. Not knowing can really affect you and so once you know you can put an action plan in place. I know it was like that for me and even though my diagnosis wasn't what I wanted to hear I could then take steps to get better.  It sounds like you are dealing with this on your own, could you talk to your wife and other friends or family? Perhaps you could ring the consultant tomorrow to see you they could offer any advice.
As difficult as it is try and rest and talk to someone it can only help. Sending you positive thoughts and the very best for the results. Also medicine has moved on incredibly in four years so I hope that this is also some comfort to you.

    take care
