Hi Jiles,
Still have not been able to sort out my printer problem but they are sending me a replacement cartridge. So hope this will resolve the problem. Have been watching BBC nature watch the last couple of nights as they are in the USA in New Hampshire and showed the Fall and all those beautiful trees. I would dearly love to see the colours of those trees for real. Mrs B said, I would never get you away ha ha. She was pleased for both night she saw some Owls.
Mrs B has planted her bulbs at the weekend. We used new soil from the garden centre and it has rained since and the soil has bedded down so may have to put anonther layer over the top.
I have come up with more ideas for two mini short srories and have completed one of them and the other will be finnished today. Also have another one of about thirty a5 pages so far and hope that it will be finished this week. I started it a few years ago as an adventure story for my granddaughter but came to a point where i didnt know where to go with it. So I have scrapped about a third of it and completely changed the direction I had been going. I think its much better now.
Picked my first radish and very tasty it was too. Grass on the back lawn needs mowing,,,,,Yet again. Talking about your "laptop problem", I was working on my printer problem yesterday and swithed on my older laptop to see if that would make a differnce. It didnt, but after about ten minutes, my laptop swithced off too. Couldnt figure it out kept trying the switch. Blooming idoit, I found I had unplugged it a few days ago and like yours it had simply just run out of power.
Hope work is not too busy and you will soon be enjoying your time off, Brian
Hi Jules,
After trying another ink jet catridge and a phone callto my suppier, it seems that HP have done an update to stop people using the cheaper cartidges. Instead of £13, I will now have to pay nearly £29
So what I am going to try is to delete my printer program and re-install it from the disk dated 2012 and see if that works. It just annoys me they can get away with it.
Have just finished another six page story and a 30 page one. Really got the bug this time ha ha.
Picked some large radishes from the garden and we have both enjoyed them
We have primroses and a rhodedendron out in flower.
You only have tommorow to go and then you can have a fews days off again.
Take care, Brian
Hi Brian
Know the expense of HP cartridges and have just had to replace mine. Unbelieable price range for the 'double pack' (black/colour). Anything from £48 downwards. Finally got some for £25 from a well known supermarket!! (cheaper than online!!!!!). Hopefully though at least the printer will work again once you swallow the expense as your current spell of writing means you will have a backlog to print so your friends/family can enjoy seeing your mind at work.
My two work shifts passed very quickly as plenty to keep me busy and am now just waiting in for the engineer who does my annual boiler service.
So glad I mowed the lawn and pruned my honeysuckle earlier in the week as it is currently raining though apparently we are due sunshine and showers today.
Visit to Mum as usual last Tuesday and for the first time this month she was awake so despite no conversation from her, at least I could update her with family news and show her the latest photos of her four great grandchildren. Her body is definitely stronger than her mind at this stage in her life though sadly she has no interest in life as we know it.
Hope you and Mrs B enjoy a peaceful weekend ahead and are keeping well. It appears we are due some colder weather ahead so may have to think about putting the fire on if I sit down for too long ha ha.
Regards to you and the family. Jules
Good morning Jules,
Just a quick post.
Hooray, my printer is now operational. Bought an HP cartridge and it accepted it straight away so HP have changed the software to stop people using cheaper catridges. Spent yesterday morning at a library doing a drop in for our wood club but it was a waste of time as it was so quiet and had no interest at all , Came back home and bought myself some chips fron the fish and chip shop then spent most of the afternnon at the hospital as they wanted Mrs B to have some more scans re her hearing problems. Have to take her back again on Monday morning for more tests.
The other night when I couldnt sleep, I came up with the idea for another new story and have written 4,500 words so far. It going to be a crime story called Thirty Days To Catch a Killer. I am pleased with it so far.
Hope you are able to go for your walk today. Sending kind thoughts to you and your family, Brian
Hi Brian,
Good news that your printer is up and running again and with all this writing creativity you have just now there will be much to print off. As you know I am pretty much a technophobe when it comes to setting up/changing things but just recently have been getting messages saying that various programs/searches not supported by my current browser. So today, upon return from my gym visit and walk (met up with son and family for this), I updated to Chrome. Now wait to see how much difference I notice ha ha. At least it appears to be working so far.
Following the lovely walk we popped to the garden centre as yet another 20%off weekend for loyalty card holders. Both my son and I have now stocked up with 'winter fuel' for the garden birds at a resonable cost and he ran me home as the large sack was a bit heavy to walk back!!
I do hope that the hospital can help with Mrs B's hearing difficulties as can imagine this must be pretty frustrating for her.
After enjoying the family walk this morning I came home with some home made cake (daughter in law and her Mum run a 'table sale' of their home made delights once a month at our local athletics club ( where her parents are running club members). I have also ordered a Christmas cake from them as having family/friends open house in the run up to the festive season. Thankfully the early drizzle soon cleared away and now we have sunshine but a chilly wind so will curl up in front of the fire for the afternoon.
Take care and regards to you both and the family. Jules
Good morning Jules.
Sorry I have been absent from the forum for a few days. Have got the writing bug real bad and have started and finished about five stories since we last spoke. I curently have another two on the go. I have found a company who specialize in publishing short stories so am going to tidy up about three of them and send them off, so keep your fingers crossed for me. They publish four books per year and have about ten short stories in each book so about forty stories get published per year. They charge three pounds to sumit each story. I sent about three of my stories to a good friend of mine and he told me I have got to try and get published.
I have found some ink tank printers that do not use cartriges. The printers are a lot more expesive but the printing cost are about 90% cheaper, so in the long term work a a heck of a lot cheaper. Will look at this option for the future.I hope you have a good weekend and will post again soon, Brian
The muse is with you! Good luck re the publishing, Brian, fingers crossed!

Hi Brian,
Wow you really do have the bit between the teeth as far as your writing is concerned. Do hope the publishing guys see your talent and that you can 'broker a deal' so that others can share your passion. You must let us all knowa and when things happen for you so we can read for ourselves. As you know I enjoy a good thriller. An exciting prospect for you and the family so will keep fingers crossed for you. If all goes well you may not need to change your printer!
I have somehow managed to twist my knee which is cutting down (but not out) my walking so instead of walking to my various places of interest am hopping on and off transport. After a quick shopping trip yesterday I went to a nearby village and memorial park to enjoy the autumn sunshine and changing scenery. There was a small museum (Heath Robinson) in the park which I popped into. Some beautiful illustrative work from his books and WW2 memories. They have a permanent exhbition of his work plus a room for special exhibitions which was currently linked to Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland. Very good indeed.
Today I will do an adjusted program at the gym and then visit the Farmers'Market before 'resting up' for the afternoon (one way to get out of too much housework). I have put support on the knee today so hopefully that will help.
Have a peaceful week with MrsB. Regards to all the family. Jules
Hi Hazel,
Good to see your post and hope all is well with you. Regards. Jules
Hi jules,
Hope your knee is better now not that today is the best of days for walking. Glad you have managed to finish the work in your garden.
I am at present working on seven new stories with another two I have ideas for, yet to start. All the leaves have now gone from our cherry tree. Have not got to go back to the hospital regarding my eyes for 18 months, so quite pleased about that. The trees have had some lovely colours to their leaves this year. As I get older, The more I appreciate things like this.
Hope work has not got too busy.
Sending kind thoughts to you and your family, Brian
