My Journey Continues

Hi all my forum buddies.  Just wanted to post on a new thread as it is more relevant than where my journey began.  Hope to see you here. Jules

  • Hi Brian and everyone,

Glad you had a good show Brian and look forward to seeing the pictures when you have had time to draw breath.

Have just returned home after a busy but happy weekend.  Sleepover with my grandsons last night so that my daughter and son in law could have their last social night with friends before moving on Tuesday,  Then hit the gym before being picked up for our afternoon of celebrations for Darcey's 1st birthday (which she shares with her Great Grandma.  It was a lovely time spent in the garden around the BBQ with family and friends.  Thankfully the first drops of rain came after all the cooking was completed and the candles blown out.  Have posted a couple of pictures with 'parental consent'. Jules

  • Happy Birthday to Darcey and great gran!   Super cake, Jules, made me feel hungry,  and a lovely shot of Darcey - how she's grown.  Glad you all managed to enjoy the party before the rain - sorry, my fault for buying that new parasol, I told you so, didn't I!

Hope your new mower arrived, though seems you might have to wait a few days before christening it.

I'm so pleased for your daughter, at last, the keys in her hand, how exciting!  Busy days ahead for you all, so you will no doubt be looking forward to your holiday afterwards.  Where are you going Jules, you are very brave going on your own!

    Take care, hugs back.

    Hazel xx

  • Glad you had a good day yesterday Brian, hope it was profitable for everyone.  Look forward to seeing the photos, but you have a rest first, for goodness sake.

  • Hi Hazel,

My daughter in law made the cake,  one layer fruit and one sponge and it was beautiful, both to look at and eat.  Darcey had a very serious face for most of the day bless her and this one was taken as she got smothered in sun screen!

My mower came yesterday morning at 9.30 and by 10.30 lawn was mowed.  Very glad as at the moment it is tipping it down here.  First big shower of the day so very lucky.  When the small shower hit towards the end of Darcey's party they just hoisted up two gazebos in the garden and were sitting beneath it as we were leaving (had to get back as my daughter is still packing in readiness for moving day (Tuesday) and they also had someone coming to collect a few bits they have sold).

Whilst on the one hand I am looking forward to my week's break (Jersey) there is an underlying feeling of trepidation but I just need to get that 'tick in the box' to prove to myself I can manage this.  My Mum did it in her early eighties so I should not be afraid to try!!!  I do not feel at all brave, just determined not to lose track on my own journey now.  Hubby will be with me in spirit and I will no doubt take our memories from our holiday there 42 years ago along with me for the ride.

Hope you are keeping well and that your new parasol will soon have another airing (or you could use it as a large brolly!  Take care my friend.  Jules

  • Goodmorning Jules.

Have just about caught up from last weekend. I have had a busy week. I phoned up the oirganisers of last weeks event and thanked them and they have asked us back for another three day show in August. I helped organise our part of the show  but am organising this one on my own as the other person will be away on holiday. So I spent a couple of days phoning our members to see if they were intersted and have got a good response.

I took Mrs B to a graden centre near us and bought three books for £5 by an auther named Clive Cussler and have read two of them already and am half way throught the third. Also bought her a purse with an owl on it which she was very pleased with. She is now able to eat the stawberries from the garden as they are ready and she says they taste so much better than the shop bought ones.

Hope your daughters move went okay and that they are begining to get straight after the move. I know when we move many years ago it tokk us  several weeks to get things how we wanted.

I hope you enjoy you Sunday morning walk Have a great weekend. Sending kind thoughts your way, Brian.

  • Hi Brian

So please you have had a good response to doing another show after the success of the last one.  I  know it can be a bit of a headache organising such events but to see the benefits afterwards makes it worthwhile.

My daughter's move ran smoothly and we had packed away all the essentials (kitchen) before removal van arrived.  Everything unloaded by 2.45 pm and when I left at 4.50ish (to catch train home) beds were already made up and tv aerial installed.  Needless to say the boys were happy enough both with me at nearby park and also in their new playroom (conservatory) and garden.  Already been there nearly a week and eldest grandson started his new school today.  What a surprise awaited him as a lad who used to go to his old school was in his new class (moved to the area last year!!).  Youngest grandson has been registered at local pre school and will go two afternoons a week until September when there will be space for him to go every afternoon.  All in all about as good as it gets and I am so pleased to see them happy in their new home.  Hubby would have been very proud.

Plenty of walking done on Saturday which was a beautiful day and when I got home I also got the lawn mowed as doubt I will get a chance before going away this weekend.  Sunday I went to the farmers' market for my usual purchase of local cheese and bread and today met with my friend for a coffee.

Tomorrow I will go and sit by my Mum for a while before heading into town to watch a film with my friend at the silver cinema (very reasonable and includes tea and biscuits before the showing).  Mum no longer really communicates with anyone but is still eating independently and taking the medication to keep the pains at bay.  I really do appreciate the care she is receiving and the palliative team are continuing to monitor her.  They will only move her if it becomes essential but feel at present it is more dignfied to keep her at the residential home where she can be kept comfortable.

Hope you,Mrs B and the family are all keeping okay.  Take care. Jules

  • Afternoon Jules, hope I'm in time to wish you a happy holiday!  Enjoy!

  • Thank you Hazel.  Am off in the morning and just about to think about packing!!  Fingers crossed for dry weather.  Still a bit apprehensive but it will be another tick in the box and no doubt it will pass in a flash. Will be interesting to see how it is has changed (last there 42yrs ago!!!) but looking forward to being waited on ha ha.

Hope you are doing OK and will soon be making use of your garden parasol again.  Dry and windy here today.Take care. Jules xx
