My Journey Continues

Hi all my forum buddies.  Just wanted to post on a new thread as it is more relevant than where my journey began.  Hope to see you here. Jules

  • Oh Jules forgive my post on my site to you .....I am so sorry not to have known of your hubbies departure.  You know from the support you have given me how well I understand your current situation and my heart goes out to you.  My site tells of my joirney through this uncharted place you find yourself in.  It is difficult but you will come through.

All my thoughts and a big virtual hug

  • Hi Ian

Just lovely to see your name appear on my thread and suspect its just as hard for you to post but I really appreciate the message.  It was a long three years for hubby and I take much comfort in the fact that he is now free from the clutches of his disease which took his happiness away.  I am surrounded by the love of my family and friends (and the ongoing support of virtuality buddies) and now, like you, my life must be lived to the best of my ability. Early days still but so many memories to cherish and share with others - a few late nights of 'story-telling' along the way.

Sending hugs and best wishes and hope all is well with you and Julie in your new life.  Jules x

  • Hi Brian and hope all goes smoothly on both counts.

I have today taken the plunge (with daughter's support) and got myself a new mobile phone(current one was second hand from my son over 8 years ago and pay as you go!) and have just arranged for my old number to be transferred over as staying with same company who have served me well so far. No doubt it will take me a while to learn my way around it (wonderful touch technology ha ha) . Am now about to get a tablet too (whatever next!).  What has led to such madness I hear you ask/  Well current laptop is getting on a bit (bit like its user) and 'crashed' last night so need a back up plan in case it goes altogether. Tablet will also be handy in other respects though will probably need an evening class with my daughter to start me off. Maybe I could treat this as a new 'hobby'!!

Enjoyed time with my son yesterday and have a lovely plant to put beside my daffs from my daughter. Spent some time with my Mum and she had me put the flowers I bought (plus new vase to put them in) up in her bedroom and though she was still negative about life at least she seemed pleased to see me.Was also given her post which included confirmation that Social Services consider she is 'eligible' to stay where she is, so huge relief (on the indication that she would be in danger if left alone at any time).

Following my phone shopping today treated my daughter and grandson in our favourite cafe and then I went to the gym and am now counting the days till we have our mini break to Scotland.

Hazel and Diane - hope you both managing okay and will chat again soon.  Jules xx

  • Hi jules hope you had a lovely Mother's Day. I had a great time but woke up with a pounding headache  I forget I tend to drink too much with my daughters I'm a social drinker so that's the only time I would ever feel tipsy. but we get lost in conversation and we forget we're gulping it down. Restaurant was great food was lovely. Then my son in laws took the grandkids home and my daughters came home with me and stayed until 1am just talking and catching up. It's great talking for hours with my kids because we never run out of conversation. Though I think they were wanting to spend time with me as they haven't recently with work and life etc. Today I was in the garden getting fresh air. Was such a lovely day today. I haven't drove the car today as I never drive the next day after drinking alcohol just to be on the safe side. Have a good evening -Diane x

  • Hi Jules,,

Phone was changed this morning and my broadband has been done today instead of tommorow. Am feeling happy to get back online; I know I've only been off for a few hours but it seems a lot longer. My son archery went well yesterday and he beat the No 1 longbow archer in the country but was beaten by the No 2 just by 2 points So proud of him.

Must fly as have lots to catch up on. Hope your trip to your mother goes well tommorow. Best wishes and kind thoughts being sent your way, Brian.

  • Hi Diane

Sounds like you all had a lovely day together and nothing like a good gossip with your daughters. I spent the morning with  my Mum  and at least she did not  tell me to go away!!  At mid day my son picked me up and we went back to his for a beautfiful roast dinner followed by a  2 mile walk with their dog before his fiancees parents dropped me off on their way home.  I now have the pleasure of all the flowers that I received from him and my daughter so good day all round.  I did have a glass or two of wine with my meal but think the walk in the fresh air saved me from any after effects.

Got a new phone today and been 'playing' around with it as I try to get to grips with new style. Tomorrow I collect my tablet which I have ordered for store pick up. Decided it was time for me to 'move with the times' and will provide me with back up if the lap top crashes again!!

Was at the gym today and good company as I did my routine. Will go again tomorrow and then have a bit of a break as will be away at the weekend.

Lovely day here too but apparently rain due on Wednesday so may try and do a bit in the garden tomorrow though the soil is still pretty heavy to turn over. Enjoy a peaceful evening.  Jules x

  • Great customer service this time then Brian and we do get tetchy when our technology is unavailable. It's actually sometimes quite frightening how much we depend upon it. I am picking up my frist tablet tomorrow prompted by my laptop being a bit slow. Decided to have some back up available so that at least I can access e-mails if needs be.  No doubt a few fun and games ahead with that and a new mobile phone to 'find my way around' - will keep me busy and hopefully take my mind of snacking ha ha.

Wow  your son did very well and hope his wife has forgiven him for competing on Mother's Day.

Hope you and Mrs B have a peaceful evening.  Jules x

  • That's good you had a lovely day and your mother was at least not trying to push your our the door. My sister had a lovely day she said all her kids came down and spent the day with her she went to her sons house and has a lovely roast dinner got her mind of the Brest clinic she was to go to today. Which she went to and they done the scan on both breasts don't know if that's what they usually do but anyway they said she should get her results in the next 2 weeks they will phone her to Come in and go over what they found and hopefully didn't find meaning (Cancer) she hasn't told her kids yet as she doesn't want to worry them. That's good you got a new phone. I went from a motorloa flip phone to a iPhone 6 and I'm still struggling with the basics I can phone and text though takes me awhile with texting do love the apps though. I have an iPad mini which is easy to use cause it's big and and I understand it better though it looks the exact to my phone i still struggle ha ha. Enjoy your night -Diane x

  • So pleased your sister enjoyed Mother's Day too and will keep everything crossed that when her results come through from today's scans  it will be the best possible news.  Jules x

  • Hi Hazel, Was going to post on your own thread but then realised that was started quite some time ago so will reply on here and hope you read it.  Just wanted to send  you hugs as I suspect the chemo is leaving you feeling a bit 'pants' but hoping it will be your last treatment so that your mind and body can have some recovery time.  I am  going away for the weekend but will be thinking of all my forum buddies and be in touch on my return (not taking the laptop with me as hoping for precious quality time spent with my daughter).  Be kind to yourself and take care.  Jules xx

  • Morning, Jules, thanks for the lovely hugs, much needed (had some from Diane too so am doing well on that score) - 'pants' is one word to describe it!  It seems to be cumulative, it gets worse each time, but no more to come now, please God.  I am feeling a wee bit better this morning, have washed my hair and got dressed, so onwards and upwards.

Hope you have a really lovely weekend in Edinburgh with your daughter - the weather seems to be on your side so ENJOY!

    Love Hazel x

  • Hi Jules,

Good on you for getting a new phone and tablet. I am so pleased I changed my broadband provider as my download speed id up 50% and half the price I was paying. The old company has sent me a bill for last mount, despite me telling them in no uncertain terms I would not be paying it because of lack of servive and the fact I spent four hours on the phone to them, and a further four hours re-tyoing e-mail and e-mail address they had lost in changing my webmail page. So I am sending them a bill for my time which is double what they want to charge me. I am having to send it via post as their sytem doesnt recognise my phone number any more.

Now I've had my moan, I hope you have a great weekend and make lots of happy memories with your daughter. You never know, you might just bump into Diane ha ha.

    Have a great time, Brian.

  • Morning Brian

Glad that you are happy with your new providers and love your way of dealing with the last bill; will be interesting to hear what their response is!

I am up and raring to go as they say. My daughter and son in law will be around as soon as they drop grandson to school.  Unfortunately we have fog this morning so hope it clears quickly as have to get to the other side of London for the flight up to Scotland (with rush hour and all that entails). Have my fingers crossed that journey goes well as will feel more relaxed once 'checked in' (though even the flight could be delayed with the weather I suppose). We are both looking forward to having a relaxing couple of days together and enjoying the sights that Edinburgh has to offer (and being waited on ha ha).

Hope you and all my forum buddies have a peaceful and happy weekend. Take care.  Jules x

  • Hi Jules hope you have a good time up here though I would Advise bringing gloves and a heavy coat as its to rain all day and it's wet and cold right now. I'm off to my daughters today to look after my grandson as she needs to go into work and my son in law is on a work trip. He's got a bad cold and feeling run down so his gran will make him feel better with some lovely soup I made last night. Then in the afternoon about 5 pm I pick my new car up I got a Audi A3 looks lovely so looking forward to driving it  Diane x

  • Hello all, I am posting on Jules's thread  because I'm feeling a bit rough again today and don't want to be a misery on the lovely inspiration threads.  I have read all the posts though, and will respond asap.  Hope you all have a lovely day, it's really nice here, only wish I could take advantage of it.  Sorry to be such a whinge!

    Love Hazel xxx

  • Hi Hazel,

Soory to read you are feeling a bit rough today. Lets get one thing straight; you are not a misery nor are you a whinger. Just someone suffering from the side effects of chemo. Knowing you though, you will soon bounce back and be chasing me if I am late posting ha ha. It make Mrs B laugh. She says its about time someone else chased you up ha ha.

I know you like colourful things so I found a vitual bunch of red roses for you from all of us to try and cheer you up. Hope you like them, Brian.

  • Oh, Brian, thank you SO much, you are so thoughtful, now you have made me cry!

Everyone on here is so lovely, don't know what I'd do without you all!

Love to you and Mrs B, glad I can give her a smile.

    Hazel x

  • Hazel you need a bowl of my soup wish I could send it through the post. Sorry to hear your not that well today. You are not a misery far from it. Now you relax and just take it easy. If your up for it go for one of your walks and get some fresh air. Sending hugs and love -Diane x

  • Bless you, Diane, would love the soup but not sure if it would stay down!  I am taking it easy but very fed up with having to do so.  Love to you and your sister, thinking of her today.

  • Hi Hazel,

I'm sorry I didnt mean to make you cry; I meant to try and cheer you up. I have been sourcing some jokes to put in the newsletters so will have to post on on here for you to put things right.

Bob was in trouble. He’d forgotten his wedding anniversary. His wife was really angry. She told him "Tomorrow morning, I expect to find a gift in the driveway that

goes from 0 to 200 in 6 seconds AND IT BETTER BE TH[[ ]]ERE!" The next morning he got up early and left for work. When his wife woke up, she looked out the window and sure enough there was a box gift-wrapped in the middle of the driveway. Confused, the wife put on her robe and ran out to the driveway, brought the box back in the house. She opened it and found a brand new bathroom scale.

Bob has been missing since Friday.

I did forget our anniversay some years ago and it wasnt until I was on my way home from work I realized why Mrs B had been very off with me that morning. So I stoped at a small shop and got her a card, writting it out in the garage. I still got a frosty reception even more so when she opened the card and found I had got her a birthday card. It did not go down well. So when her birthday came round, I got her and anniversary card, after all I had to even it up didnt I??????????

You can see Mrs B has a lot to put up with ha ha.

Take care, hope your soon feeling better, Brian.

  • Brian, it did cheer me up, that's why I cried, we women are funny creatures!  I have saved my virtual flowers to my pictures folder and in my e-diary.

    Love the story, how wicked!

My late partner was a bit like you, he would buy a card for the picture or words inside and if it was for the wrong occasion he'd just alter it!  But that was how he was, so I got used to it - at least I did get a card, and the verse was always heartfelt so I forgave him!

Mrs B puts up with you cos you're a lovely man, Brian.

  • Oh Hazel, I am so sorry you are struggling and you have been through such a lot.  I hope your medical team can help you through this grotty period (assuming it is the build up of chemo which is causing  you problems ).  It does seem to be cumulative as we noticed with hubby that the side effects worsened as he had each treatment.  Sending big hugs and hope you will be on the way up again shortly.  You certainly are not a whinger and you can rant here any time you like. Be kind to yourself.  Julesxxx
