Hormone blockers are just horrendous

Been on tamoxifen since October 2025.

The side effects are just horrendous. Aches and pains, blurred vision, hot flushes and night sweats thar keep me awake all night. Weight gain and anxiety

People think once youve done surgury and chemo things go back to normal. I hate this new normal and want my old life back . Im 43 and been thrown into menopause also.

  • Hello Helso,

l know where you are coming from, just not where you were heading to. Cancer treatment does not stop the journey, just alters the destination. This is me just back from hospital after the sixth bowel blockage event in the last six years.

All things considered the new normal is liveable with when the alternative very much was not.Hopefully your treatment has an end date in sight and things will become easier for you,

    David

  • Hi Helso.  I know what you mean.  I had breast cancer, had op, then chemo and then radiotherapy.  Was put on tamoxifen as was 47 and had not gone through the menopause.  I really hated it so much and it was horrendous like you said.  I was later changed to Anastrozole and that wasn't much better.  I so wish we could get our old lives back but unfortunately this is our new normal.  Sending you hugs.
