DANCE FOR LIFE

MAYBE THERE SHOULD BE A DANCE FOR LIFE FOR THOSE OF US WHO CANT RUN AND LOVE DANCING, DANCING CAN INCLUDE EVERYONE BECAUSE IT CAN BE DONE STANDING, FROM A CHAIR OR A WHEELCHAIR. AND WE COULD ALL DO AS MUCH OR AS LITTLE AS OUR DEGREE OF HEALTH WOULD ALLOW !!!!!!!! WHAT DOES EVERYONE THINK ????

  • Hi Hothead,

Sounds a great idea to me, mind you working shifts anything between 8am and 8pm, or 8pm and then through to 8am whilst nursing, never had the time to learn! Mine would be more like 'daddy dancing' but with two left feet, could get paid a fortune for getting off the floor though, bit like my carol singing!

  • Hi Pat

Anyone can dance, just move to the rytthym lol, cant even spell it ha ha, I used to be brilliiant at spelling st school, but my memory not what it was, so it could have been a spelling B, but it has to be dance now.. Before I found out about the BC I used to go dancing with my sis and friends about once every 6 weeks or so and we would dance until dawn, My last dancing attempt was ruined by the change in painkillers and we had to cut it short, so I could do with a good bop,the radiotherapy helped with the pain though, had the one big blast, its just starting to creep back, but im having the bone treatment next week along with the new chemo. Only had  one so far (Zometa) its a long story. Hope you are well at the moment.

  • Hi Hothead49,

Feeling fine at the moment though felt a bit yuk at times over the past couple of weeks. Actually doing the race for life this coming Sunday, though will be amongst the walkers, the friend I asked to come with me, she only saunters; last two years have lapped her twice in one circuit of the relay for life course in St Agnes Cornwall. I can sprint for about 200yds only these days, gave up my running when I moved to Cornwall, no pavements and no street lights in the village, feel a bit of an idiot running at my age anyway!  Pat cougar69

I think you are amazing doing that and you sound like you are a lot of fun to be around.Hope you have a good day and the weather is kind to you. Im going to Tatton Park flower show this weekend, im really looking forwards to it, always wanted to go. I will do the race for life next summer if my new treatment works and shrinks me lol, Im getting really nervous about next week, Ive been reading about Abraxane and its quite scarey stuff. Im sending you hugs for weekend. Ive been to the Lizard Point a few years ago, Cornwall is beautiful.

    Love and good luk

  • Hi Pat

How did you get on with the race for life?

    Von XXXX

  • Good morning Von,

Well the morning was good, not hot and sunny, bit cloudy, cool breeze, really wanted to start off with the joggers, but my friend would only agree to walk the 5K, there were more walkers than runners, so it was difficult to speed walk- I sort of hate my path being blocked from side to side with friends sauntering and talking!, Felt so buzzed the rest of the day though, next yr must find myself a runner or jogger and do the RFL in a different town, Like Penzance or Falmouth. To prove I actually did it, posted my Bib and medal thingy on the thread 'is the RFL sexist' in off Topic

  • Good Morning Pat

well done you, what a wonderful thing to have under your belt, I hope I will be up to it next year, Im ok with yesterdays treatment so far, they said the first five days on abraxane are the worst, and they dont usually give steroids with it, but because i reacted badly to the other stuff they have given me 5 days of them, Im gonna be pumped up lol. Been for a walk down to the drs and park this morning and im going for another walk in a bit with my daughter, while the grandkinds ride their bikes, Im getting tired now though, they said the fatigue is worse with this treatment .Going to give it a try though.

Have a good day hun hope you are well.

  • Hi Von,

Thanks, yes I think my break away did me some good, just having my meals made for me, no house work for a week, and to top it off the sun shone all week!!!

  • Hi Von,

I'm replying to this post but maybe should have clicked one further up, but the way I rabbit on you'll not be long in picking up that I'm covering about the last 100 posts.

Dancing - count me in, I have no sense of rhythm and start off really well but then just go off and do my own wee bop.  Don't stand next to me in a step class, I can't do arms, legs and breathing all at the same time - it's not bonny I can tell you.

Pat I'm surprised at you, that you worry about your dancing, I "feel" you will have a natural sway to you, just move your hips in time to the music. If truth be told I have a wee dog and and Ipod, put the 2 together and when I'm out walking her I'm always singing, and have been known to have a wee dance in the park when it's quiet to - go me, am i bovvered?  Not really.

I'm surprised at your friend at work, even if he is a bloke, mine couldn't have been more different, I've had cards, flowers, texts, emails etc from my boys - actually, just to show you the kind of humour we share, one bought me an ipod and loaded music on it for when I went in for surgery, I was a regular at the gym before and had another ipod and was always on the running machine singing away - I could clear the gym, anyway he loaded "inspirational" music on for me to listen to while i was off, first track "Girl you're amazing just the way you are", I was in tears, next was "you've got the music in you" - words are don't give up, you've got the music in you, don't give up you've a reason to live, ok so now I'm in floods of tears wondering what the hell are tehy doing, next song Mac the Knife - tears were still flowing but I was laughing my head off.  They got worse from there on in, I still have them all though, even the rubbish ones (Flower of Scotland).  Once he gets over the initial embarrassment he might be ok, a few of mine even offered to check out the "finished job" - I have declined their offer - pervs.

So if you organise a danceathon I might just pitch up with Pat in tow

    Good luck
