Female, retired theatre nurse,active charity trustee.Ascending colon cancer Rt Hemicolectomy Nov 2007. Recent CEA count increases,CatScan has shown nodes in the base and apex of Left lung, after repeat CTscan,PET scan Surgery took place as planned. First on the list; postoperative recovery was good and uneventful, nursing and surgical care was exemplary and I was discharged home on 6th April. Follow up took place after 8wks, surgeon happier than I am at the end of that appointment. Have a CT scan booked plus oncologists appt & follow up with surgeon. All letters reports to GP & oncologist fail to mention the second wedge removed! On Thursday 16th June, have made contact with Surgeons secretary demanding a copy of the histology report be sent to both me and my GP. Everyone happy that the removal of upper wedge was complete and clean, no one is talking about the wedge from the base of my lung!
Well there we go I was right! node still there in the base of my Lung, the *** missed it, still there in the same place, so is not a new one.
Half of left lung removed on 1st December 2011; recovery good, home on 6th December. Off pain killers by end of week 5, and today 1st February I have spent an hour in the gym: pushed heart rate up to 135 and maintained for 10 minutes, no breathing problems, Yeah! I'm going to be as fit as I can be, this big C comes back again its got a fight on its hands.
Well here we go again, blood test and oncology follow-up on 28th February cea count still higher than my GP, & oncologist and I are happy about. Repeat CTscan booked for 26th March, oncology follow-up on 10th April, body toned, fit, and ready to give big C a bloody nose.
