Transport costs - is there anything I can get to help with travel or parking? I'm due to have radiotherapy for breast cancer but the hospital is far away

I have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer following what was to be my last mammogram as I am 71 this year. After the lumpectomy it is planned to have radiotherapy. I'm trying to be really organised beforehand. Myself and my partner only have state pension, the hospital I will have to go to for radiotherapy is well over an hours drive each way or a two hour bus trip each way. My concern is the cost of driving two hours each day for minimum of two weeks plus £6 each day parking. Would I be physically up to the bus trip every day which would be free or is there any help I can get for travel costs and parking.

Our NHS hospital gives free parking to cancer patients while undergoing radiotherapy / Chemotherapy there is a desk at outpatients reception for this, however the biggest problem is finding a parking space. The same desk can help with public transport costs but Im guessing you already have a National Bus Pass. As treatment progresses you may not be able to sit for 4 hours on a bus and at the hospitals disgression they may award you help with fuel costs. You will need to provide evidence of your income and treatment. Hope this is of use.
