Travel to the canaries with reassuring hospital access

Hi. Please can anybody share their experience or thoughts on travel to any of the canary islands. Myself and my husband would like to spend a week away early February and be reassured of hospital access in case of an emergency. We were hoping to do a cruise but my oncologist feels being on the ocean wouldn't be advisable. I have HGS stage 3 ovarian cancer. Will finish my current chemo on 15th Jan. I have yet to get a travel insurance quote but trying to explore the best destination first. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance, and all the very best to you all out there this Christmas. X

  • assuming there is no great likelihood of a problem while your away, insurance will be very difficult (try allclear for quotes), so ensure you have a GHIC card which will allow access to Spanish health system. I know Tenerife has a public hospital in Los Cristianos area , which is in main tourist area, so easily accesible if necessary.

Cruises are always difficulty because of potential enormous costs of air lifting/diversion (I know this as am just about to go on one awaiting diagnosis of the severity of my bowel cancer. Annual insurance just run out, can't get insured as still undiagnosed , so going anyway)
