Cancer and Addisons

Hi all I've been on forum for quite a few years now.

Haven't noticed anyone with both.unless I've missed it .

But thought I'd let people know what's going on with me lately ,

Beginning of the year my PSA (cancer count) rose up quite fast and quite high ,so oncologist put me on New meds, nearly three months ago since then My blood pressure is going mad mainly low so oncologist and Addisons specialist told me to increase my fludrcortizone, for my heart, from 1 1/2 to 2tablets a day, about two weeks later,no improvement so doctor and oncologist tell me to increase to 3 tablets day a week later phone call from Dr stop extra tablet my sodium levels have dropped dangerous levels so i carry on with low BP , spoke to Addisons specialist this morning explained everything everything he told me I should never have increased dose to 3and those tablets would not decrease my sodium levels, its more than likely that My new cancer meds are making My Addisons meds metabolize to fast in my body so they don't last long enough to do there job properly,at last something is making sense.

Now hes arranging a all day blood test at hospital so I have to Go early have tablets with blood test either side by about an hour, morning, lunch and evening,to see if meds are going out of My body to quickly.

Then at least I should know one way or the other than hopefully someone will figure out what to do..

Sorry if I'm ranting a lot but three months of being told one thing then another im getting rather fed up,fed up is rather mild to what I actually think, but thought id keep it clean,.

Hope everyone is keeping safe, keeping positive and keeping fighting.

Billy

  • Yes, that is a relief. Hope you can get some sleep tonight Billy.

  • HI [@Billygoatt]‍

Hope you are doing okay and taking good care of yourself.  Mike has his biopsy results tomorrow so fingers crossed the resutls wont be any worse than we already know that Mike has stage 4 metastatic cancer - spread to lung, lymph nodes and spine.  He is doing real;y well,he had his his Decapeptyl injectino last week and is completely pain free which is great. He continues now to play tennis and badminton 3 times a week and is almost back to his normal self.

I hope everything is going well for you and Brenda.

Lots of hugs to you all.

  • Hi Delhi  really glad Mike is doing so very good, wish i had the energy to play any sports, just walking sometimes and im out of breath.

Brenda is in hospital trouble with her blood. Trouble is psychiatric ward haven't kept her bedroom open for her someone else is in it so she's got to go somewhere else, and things are going slow finding somewhere, and some of her ward has covid.

If Mike can keep busy and going on like he is he shouldn't have problems. Think im jealous at energy he has. Tell him keep on like he is doing .keep positive and sure nomater what.

Take care of yourself as well don't forget.

    Love Billy xx

  • An update on Brenda, (hurrah) Brenda is being moved to an interim ward before being moved to going out ward before care home while carers are sorted for home. On a down note Brenda has had covid since 7th should be clear 17th. I was fast asleep, took a bit of figuring out but that's main things.

Hope a my good friends are doing well and keeping positive.

    Love Billy xxxx

  • Sorry to hear that Billy. Brenda's had a nightmare time of it recently. Be good if she gets to interim ward and out of hospital.

If Brenda got Covid on 7 July that was after when you did your Covid test. Looks like you need to do another Covid test! Hopefully be clear again. x

  • Had a good day went to hospital and kidnapped Brenda back home had enough messing around they said she could be in care home for months, that was to much so she's home for good.

Billy xxxx ps  she's relaxing in recliner chair and happy same as me.

  • Wow, Billy that's quite some feat you've pulled off!

Hope things work out for you both and you can get carers in as needed.

    Do take care. Rose x

  • Hi Billy,

Just wondering how it's going, hopefully they haven't kidnapped her back..

Covid gone now so I'm back in the land of the just about living!

    love

    Christine xx

  • Hi dear Christine really glad you are back to normal, it's been ever so quiet without you, he he .

When i went to the hospital, (reception)they looked at notes and said Brenda was supposed to go to psychiatric ward again, i said no I've come to take her home, so reception changed the notes (made everything legal),a nurse helped us with some of Brenda's release bags and meds to the car about 10 bags i thanked her and we're off, did alot of talking on way home, got fish and chips on way..called Dr's when home they had Brenda down as going to psychiatric ward so got that changed, thought i was very sneaky things all going well, Brenda getting back to her normal bossy self. .it's lovely to have her home. Take care try and keep positive.

    Love Billy xxxx
