Cancer and Addisons

Hi all I've been on forum for quite a few years now.

Haven't noticed anyone with both.unless I've missed it .

But thought I'd let people know what's going on with me lately ,

Beginning of the year my PSA (cancer count) rose up quite fast and quite high ,so oncologist put me on New meds, nearly three months ago since then My blood pressure is going mad mainly low so oncologist and Addisons specialist told me to increase my fludrcortizone, for my heart, from 1 1/2 to 2tablets a day, about two weeks later,no improvement so doctor and oncologist tell me to increase to 3 tablets day a week later phone call from Dr stop extra tablet my sodium levels have dropped dangerous levels so i carry on with low BP , spoke to Addisons specialist this morning explained everything everything he told me I should never have increased dose to 3and those tablets would not decrease my sodium levels, its more than likely that My new cancer meds are making My Addisons meds metabolize to fast in my body so they don't last long enough to do there job properly,at last something is making sense.

Now hes arranging a all day blood test at hospital so I have to Go early have tablets with blood test either side by about an hour, morning, lunch and evening,to see if meds are going out of My body to quickly.

Then at least I should know one way or the other than hopefully someone will figure out what to do..

Sorry if I'm ranting a lot but three months of being told one thing then another im getting rather fed up,fed up is rather mild to what I actually think, but thought id keep it clean,.

Hope everyone is keeping safe, keeping positive and keeping fighting.

Billy

  • Hi dear Christine  ,confirmed Brenda has pneumonia she was on intravenous antibiotics, yesterday and day before, sent back to her ward yesterday evening still on antibiotic tablets, nurse said she's talking more normal again.

Still haven't figured out getting pneumonia with people looking after her.

I've noticed some dogs don't take no for an answer but really glad you are getting out and about and good food,

im feeling stronger and more energy, BP keeping up so some good news.

Bella loves relaxing in the sunshine now, never usto bother.

I've had a look at couple of cars, but when i saw flat tyres on some i didn't bother but know i need to save more yet.

Hope things keep going well for you  .hope bobbin calms down so you can get a restful visit.

    Love Billy xxxx

  • Hi Billy,

I would also wonder how someone in a "care" facility could get pneumonia.  It doesn't seem right!  Hopefully the antibiotics will soon clear it up.  It just shows that care without love isn't caring at all, Brenda would have been better off if they had left her in your, loving, care.

I smiled at the image of Bella lying In the sun.  My house is built facing west at the front and east at the back, so Archie finds the sunniest spot in the bedroom in the morning and in the living room in the afternoon. At the moment the sun is shining brightly in the late afternoons, and sets right opposite me between the two houses opposite and is too bright to tolerate in the living room so I have to close the blinds. I feel quite guilty when Archie gives me a reproachful look when I take away his favourite patch of sunlight.

Good luck with your car hunting, it's hard finding something worth the amount of money you have to spend.  I was just lucky when I found mine. Have you looked at any of those online places they keep advertising on the telly? They make it sound so easy.

Right, it's a grey day and the grass is too wet for me to mow, even though it  is getting very long, so I will  do some housework, hoovering and dusting,  'cos nothing got done while I had my visitors, although I did a good clean up before they arrived. Then I am either going to do some baking, read a book or have another go at my painting, it is actually coming together a bit, so I might start getting it right from now.  It's a baby portrait, and although I have successfully done several adult portraits, getting the baby's face right is really hard.

Hope you have a good day,

    love

  • Really sunny here but cold wind, our living room faces west, and garden is west so sun morning till night. Kitchen is east always cold unless cooking, we have a drive and little garden in front of Kitchen window.

Winter time car never defrosts for weeks if not used. That's a right pain, especially as cars opposite side of road soon steam and clear . .

Jigsaws are my limit hands shake to much with no warning could be messy painting anything (side effects of chemotherapy) .

I've managed to put a cheap hosepipe around the garden fixed down and prodded some holes just right to water the plants and trees in one go just turn on and that's it.

Hope the baby's face comes out well  .

  • Hi Billy,

I just read your latest message on Carol's thread.  I am really pleased that you found the good doctor that I knew must exist somewhere, and he listened.  (Sorry medics, I'm a bit sarky sometimes) Long may you be feeling fit and well!

Mixed weather here, I took Archie out this morning about ten and it was bright sunshine.  We walked up the lane and it was still sunny but then I met a neighbour with her adorable puppy and we stood talking for a few minutes, then on our way back the heavens opened!  Can't believe it's June tomorrow!

    Hope,Brenda is feeling better, too.

  • Hi Billy,

I hope you are doing well, I couldnt have a chance to make an account in this forum as I wasn't from the UK. But here I am  to drop by, hoping you are fine and good. When my dad just diagnosed advanced prostate cancer in 2020, I was very very lost and confused however you inspired me and just reading your replies to all the members makes me feels very comforted. Also not forgetting your love for Brenda. It makes me feel very hopeful.  Thank you! and I hope you doing well.

  • Hi worriedwaffle, really love the name.

Thought id reply here first, glad I've helped you, i can't help myself so consontrate on helping others it keeps me occupied, passes time and i enjoy doing it and meeting people even if only on forum.

    Billy

I'll reply to friend request now.

Just been shopping for Brenda taking Tuesday when i go, nice chilled Coca-Cola and chocolates.  Her favourite.

  • Hi Christine, didn't think till other day, (chemo brain again),but I've been like this before lacking energy and puffing alot, before i was diagnosed with Addisons because it slows the body because its shutting down because lacking cortisords (hormones)to keep things running properly, im talking to endocrinologist next month and oncologist this month so hopefully get something sorted.

Thought id better ask how things are going with you and yours, or I'll be in trouble again.

Cannot remember if i asked if you've thought about cbd oil, i usto have injection in knee, (kneeling down on concrete or steel all day for 50 years. ) Found it helps me alot.

    Love Billy xxxx

  • Billy, just wanted to say 'Hi' to you and your wife.  I know you have got a lot on your plate, but I appreciate how  you and a few others made me feel better when I first joined this forum.  I was at a very low ebb in my life and to be honest Billy, I felt like I had had enough if you know what I mean.  Anyway mate, enough of my waffling, and it has been inspirational to see that despite all your own problems, you still have time for others, take care, Violet, xx

  • Hey Billy,

I thought you were doing better, last time I heard from you, now it looks like you're going backwards again, bummer! I hope I'm allowed to say that, or if I get censored!

Things much the same here, Archie still thinks he's my dad and I'm here to answer to his every need.  I wish he was so assertive with Bobbin, the pup might be better behaved.  He's going through his terrible teens, at just nine months he's started scent marking all over my daughters house.  He just stands there, with his leg up, looks you straight in the eye and pee's! My daughter has made an appointment at the vet's to discuss neutering him.  They used to say it was better to castrate them as soon as possible, but now they say to wait. At nine months, he's fully grown and capable of siring puppies, so I think it's time!

That baby's face has been rubbed out AGAIN!!! I have painted in the shadows and highlights again and I feel like the likeness is there until I lose it again.  I have ignored the face today and just worked on the towel she's wrapped in. I'm going to complete all the background so I've only got that face to work on and I will work on it until it's finished and looks right, or I pop my clogs, whichever comes first!

My daughter uses CBD for help with her ME. I tried it but it did nothing for me. Perhaps I didn't give it long enough. If the injections in the creaky knees stop working, I will try it again.

How is Brenda? I was sorry she wasn't doing well, last time I heard.

It's lovely to see messages from some of the other people who have benefitted from your kindness and support, you really are a help when someone needs a lift out of their fear of the unknown.

I'm just going to look at Carol's thread, so you might hear from me on there.

    Love

    Christine xx

  • Hi  found out yesterday Brenda is being moved into a care home, with full time 24hr care.

I really hoped she would improve enough to come back home to me..

Got a lot of thinking to do as i know she's not safe to be home as her attitude can change from nice to nasty very quick. And if im not well or sleeping anything could happen. And what happens if i have to go to appointment can take hours, then shopping to do

    Head is spinning.

    Love to all Billy xxxx
