I woke up this morning and was crying with the pain of my mouth ulcers. Phoned the onco nurses yet again and they decided I should go the hospital. Not a light decision as Covid 19. If it hadn't been for the Virus I would have gone to the doctors or hospital before. I was taken straight to an isolation room with air flow and my own bathroom. All doctors and nurses are masked. The doctors didn't examine me as they are not getting too close, but immediately I was put on a drip of antibiotics and now I am on a dehydration drip. I have neutropenia  so have been given an injection to raise  my white blood cells. Keeping me in overnight, not sure how long. Such difficult times to be going through chemo but I am getting the best treatment and my partner and I we're finding it difficult to cope at home. Bit of a relief that I wasn't making a fuss but really was unwell. Hopefully on the mend now !

    Hi Silver, I'm glad you're getting treatment. I had neutropenia too with a neutrophil count of zero and the GCSF injections did the trick. Hopefully your white blood cell count will increase quickly, your mouth ulcers will heal and you'll be out of hospital soon. X

    Thank you they've given me the GCSF injections and I'm on intravenous antibiotics so should be on mend soon 

    The  hospital is eerily quiet. With no visitors. I'm in an isolated room so safe I hope

    Hi Silverdays,

    I'm sorry to hear that you have had to be admitted to hospital with your symptoms, but hope that the antibiotics kick in soon, along with the injectons.


    It can't be at all nice having no visitors, but you'll soon be home and amongst family again. One good thing at the moment is that they won't keep you in hospital any longer than necessary.

    Thanks, yes, depending on my blood tests they will decide if I can go home. Not feeling too well though. Still have this blasted sore throat, aching back but they are doing everything possible. Can't fault these nurses they are so caring. 
    Praying I don't get the Covid19 while I am here!But every precaution is being made.
    When I speak to my Oncologist later in the week they will decide on my ongoing treatment, I know , no more chemo, how great would that be, some hope !

    I'm sorry to hear that you're not feeling that well still, but hope that the blood tests are good enough to allow you to get home. From what I understand, most hospitals are doing their level best to keep Covid 19 patients well away from other patients.

    There's absolutely no reason why you can't hope for no more chemo. We can all dream! I hope that your oncologist will come up with a less taxing treatment when you speak to him/her later in the week.

    Hi silver. 

    Just an early morning virtual visit, sorry no flowers. Hope your enjoying the meals (remember no cooking or cleaning while you're there) i was in couple of years ago. And had plenty of options what to have and it's always nice.

    Just think won't be long now before your home looking forward to your next lovely chemotherapy.. Hehe.

    My next chemo is due on Monday and as I'm still in hospital with the last round , I don't think I'm up to another  one. 
    They are pumping me with antibiotics and my mouth is beginning to feel better so that's hopeful.

    Hi Silver, I'm glad your mouth is starting to feel better, how is your neutrophil count? Hopefully you'll get home soon and have time to recover before your next cycle. Take care x

    I am so glad to hear that your mouth is beginning to feel better. Have you had your blood results back yet?  If needs be, I'm sure that you have the reserves to face your next session of chemo on Monday. Can they change to another type of chemo which won't be so harsh on your body?

    When are you due to see your oncologist again?

    Hi Virtual visitor

    Still in hospital, waiting for yet another blood test result and to see Doctor with a view to me going home today.

    Cell count up, temperature back to normal . Feeling OK certainly better than when I came in. 
    I still have a couple of mouth ulcers though and very dry throat, so I really don't feel up to another chemo on Monday, so will discuss this with Oncolgist Doctor. 

    I'm going to ask her if my treatment can be altered, I don't think I can face another chemo like this one. Reducing drugs maybe, I suppose I have to go by their expertise to find the best treatment for me.

    Its hell, I have admiration for the peoplle like yourself that have got through 6 cycles. Did you have many adverse effects? 

    The good news is I've tested negative for Covid, so that's a relief!
