Mini Breaks!

This is how I'm coping. After a masectomy in December. 2019 that has left me scarred for life, I am about to start chemo on Monday, followed by radiotherapy. Terrified of cancer, treatment, secondary cancer, side effects, own mortality, reconstruction etc. BUT I am planning to get a puppy once the treatment is over. Not even born yet but a promise from a litter. We are planning lots of mini breaks to new places. I'm having a fence in the front garden to grow a wisteria. This is what is keeping me going, plus all you lovely people sharing your own battles and allowing me to rant on here!

  • Hi silver, love your choices to keep you going puppy and wisteria, hope puppy isn't a great dane, mind you if you don't feel like walking you could ride it. Good luck with treatment, glad your planning ahead. Best wishes for the future........

  • She's a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, called the comforter dog as they used sit on the laps of ladies riding carriages to keep them warm, just what a cancer patient needs! X

  • sounds like a plan- just make sure to watch that tv show about dogs behaving badly, think its sunday night on channel 4, they had a spaniel from hell on there the other day, and it ended up being very well behaved.  We have wisteria front and back of our house, it needs ,maintenance, so make sure you find out how to prune it to get the best out of it (Im lucky, husband is a professional gardener and horticulturalsit) they can take a very long time to come into flower, so sometimes worth buying one which has already started flowering.  We lost one because its grafting point failed, but the other one runs rampant, and smells gorgeous when in bloom.  If you cant get one of those, theres another beautiful climber which is evergreen, and flowers mid summer, it looks like white jasmine, and smells heavenly = trachelospermum jasminoides. Like you I enjoy having something else to look forward to, for me it will be waiting for the crocuses to come out. already got my snowdrops!
