Living with Stage 4 Breast Cancer.

Hi there. I am wondering if there's anyone out there who, like me, is living with Stage 4 breast cancer?

It would be good to be in contact with other people who are living with this disease.

In July 2011 I was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma which was already widespread throughout both lungs and liver.

I would be interested to talk to anyone else who finds themselves in a similar position and who, despite the difficult prognosis, is determined to keep as fit as possible, access all medical treatment and eat well.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Mary

  • Hi Mare,

I just wanted to ask about the website discussing lifestyle changes that you mentioned you have set up in your profile.

    Many thanks

  • Hello Twebro,

I have messaged you with that info you asked for.

    Mare :)

  • Hi everyone, this is my first post too. I hope it's not too late to join. I was diagnosed with breast cancer last August 2019, with suspicious T10 and numerous schlerotic lesions in my spine. Following chemo etc, my scans showed the cancer has gone but proved it was in my spine.
Like Viv, I'm having Tamoxifen moving to letrazole soon, have my 2nd zoladex this week and ribociclib and denosomab next month.
I was distraught when I found out (5 June). It's almost like I'm in denial or numb right now, carrying on enjoying each day. But the nights are very difficult and I feel confused somehow that others who don't know assume I'm 'better now'. I'm 43 with 3 young children. I find friends have either been fantastic or don't know what to say / are in denial themselves?!
I'm scared of the road ahead.
be lovely to hear from any of you here x

  • Hi Wendy.

Welcome to the forum the club nobody wants to join.

We are like a big family everyone looking out for everyone else. You can talk or rant as much as you like.

Some of the "ladies" only come on now and again so might not reply to soon but they will as soon as they notice your message.

Main thing is keeping positive attitude nomatter what.

    Best wishes for the future.

  • Hi Wendy I was diagnosed with the "bad" breast cancer -tripple negative one, with mets in my lungs, kidneys and liver.Beeing on nonstop chemo since August 2019 and I have now clear kidney and liver.Although i am suffering from depression otherwise I am really well.Went even back to work few weeks ago.At least I have life outside the hospital and helps my mind keep busy.I am having a CT scan in 2 weeks time and then I have asked for 4 weeks break from chemo.Last time I had a break for 6 weeks and the tumors didn't grow.

I am only 43 too but no kids.If you want to chat i am here.

  • Will do

But it's only ideas. It's all about the things I try to do to stay as healthy as I can ready for treatments.

Not everything I do suits everyone. People tend to read it and take from it the bits that suit them. I just wrote about the things that suit me. Everyone is different.

And I'm no angel and I am having trouble sticking to a healthy diet myself at the moment with all this lockdown stuff :(

I talk a lot about my mental battles. I think the emotional effects are really quite hard to handle too.

I would be interested to see what you think.

Have sent you a private message.

  • Hi Mary. (mare) i like Mary best,

Got cancer results in January 2.2 last month 65

So a big jump supposed to be 0.0.

Oncologist reckons she put me on the wrong meds thats why counts up so much so waiting for new prescription to come through then hope new meds work and knowing all the time the count is rising while i wait,. Its a bit off putting to say the least.

Hope you're as well as can be and keeping safe.

    Love Billy xxx

  • Hi Billy,

Yes, that's pretty unfortunate isn't it. I hope your new treatment has few side effects and gets things under control properly again.

I had a scan on Saturday. No idea when I'll get any results. But I feel ok I think? Lol

So fingers crossed for both of us eh?!

I find myself behaving like a real pest at appointments. I repeatedly ask "Are you sure....?" as it is easy to miss something isn't it. You telling me your recent experience definitely won't cure me of this pesky behaviour!!!

Carry on carrying on my friend, you're pretty resilient, and you'll navigate this just as you have navigated all the other challenges.

I shall be thinking of you,

Sending you all best wishes, and strength, and resilience,

    Mary

  • Hi Billy,

I hope your new prescription works for you.  It's always unsettling when they change your medication and you don't know what to expect. I'm keeping my fingers firmly crossed that this new treatment works for you. Take care of yourself. Sending loads of love xxxx

  • Hi Mary.

Just found out new meds are what is given to a man who wants a sex change, so i might soon nead a bra, not quite sure about this, but as long as it works that's main thing.

Wonder if my voice will change.

Yes definitely got fingers crossed and good luck to you as well.

    Love Billy xxx
