The good and the bad

Hi peeps

I have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Taking the excellent advice on this website I pretty much started by taking it one day at a time. This does indeed help.

I thought to share the good and the bad and would love to hear anyone else's should they wish to share.

Today I had both a good and a bad moment. I received 2 letters in the post.

The first was from the hosp confirming my op date (my bad moment) cos my stomach dropped and I had that now familiar feeling of anxiousness take hold for a moment but shook it off cos I know it is needed.

The good - my 2nd letter - as if... a tax rebate - boom  . Not half put a much needed smile on my face . Reckon a my treat family meal is in order.

Eeee it's the little things ain't it.

Take care peeps

  • Hi Ladies- just been catching up on thread. Hope all goes well for all. It's scary not seeing improvement or getting a recall but hope it goes positively.

My poor brother-in law has been having pain in his head since last week but they said they can't do anything as he is to start radiation - which would be been today however he was admitted to hospital yesterday. CT revealed brain has swelling. I cannot begin to imagine the severity of pain of cancer in brain. The poor guy. I may sound heartless but we know his cancer is incurable so God please just take him and stop the suffering. I can understand how hard it is for both patient and family/loved ones.

Speaking of family - well where do I start? I've had not even a text or phone call since leaving Canada. My sister came to a wedding here so actually made the effort to visit me for 2 hours. Might have also been the fact that I embarrassed them at their sons wedding by saying in 26 yrs since being here they've never visited. Families are very hard work. I just try now not to think of mine at all.

Ladies I hope you all keep going strong - we got this! Glad to hear all's well Dizzle with the little miracle.

  • Ah welcome home lass. I’m with you on the recall reason ... but will keep everything crossed anyways ️

  • Aw sound like you have had such a beautiful heart warming Easter ️ I’m so glad to hear lil one and life are all exactly where they should be ️X

  • Exactly the right attitude towards family jbains. Sometimes we have to walk away and live our lives to the full without them. We can’t make them be part of it... their loss .

I’m so sorry to hear about your bother in law. This disease is so destructive and we can feel so helpless :-(  x

  • Evening ladies!

Just been catching up as haven’t been on here for a while. Lovely photos, good news and some bad hugs to you all but nice to be in touch with you all.

The good- did 15 and half mile walk today, beautiful weather. Just over 2 weeks to moonwalk!

    The Bad- none

  • Hello All

My view on families....you can choose your friends but not your family. Unfortunately you just have to take what you get. I sometimes think it’s as much a lottery as life......philosophy over.

Sorry to hear about recalls and lack of progress some people are experiencing. I hope all turns out for the best,

Egypt looks stunning, I would love to go there,,,maybe one day,

Ladies I got my all clear a week ago today but that has been overshadowed by hubby’s surgery and subsequent hospital stay. He is still very poorly in my eyes but they say he’s progressing well. Keyhole turned into open surgery for six hours plus five hours in recovery with no information during that time, He has developed a post op complication and his stomach has filled with fluids which he is finding it difficult to absorb. Very common they tell me but not expected by us at all so not mentally prepared. He is dosed up with pain relief which is making him very sleepy and can only drink fluids which have been limited for most of the time. Five days after the op and he is still in bed with tubes and lines still attached. The surgeon on op day told us he expected him at home by tomorrow. .Although specialists have seen him over the Easter break, his surgeon is still on leave so we have no information about why open surgery was required, Thankfulky the stoma is now working and the hope is that he’ll begin to absorb the fluid,

So I truly understand how slow progress can be.

Im sorry for the long post but writing it down helps to get my head round it, I’m so tired...

not the best pic Sandra but it's me in the dark blue top at the back x

  • Hi Chrissie. Yes I was in Hurghada from 15th to 20th. It was lovely there....gorgeous beaches.

  • Hey dizzle.....how is little bump doing.....must be getting quite big now!

I'm not gonna spend too much time thinking about the recall as I know it's fairly common on the first post treatment mammogram. Gonna wait til I hear what they have yo say before I let my mind wander off.

    Keep well x
