The good and the bad

Hi peeps

I have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Taking the excellent advice on this website I pretty much started by taking it one day at a time. This does indeed help.

I thought to share the good and the bad and would love to hear anyone else's should they wish to share.

Today I had both a good and a bad moment. I received 2 letters in the post.

The first was from the hosp confirming my op date (my bad moment) cos my stomach dropped and I had that now familiar feeling of anxiousness take hold for a moment but shook it off cos I know it is needed.

The good - my 2nd letter - as if... a tax rebate - boom  . Not half put a much needed smile on my face . Reckon a my treat family meal is in order.

Eeee it's the little things ain't it.

Take care peeps

  • Hi All,

The Good- I received news from work yesterday that they will support me as much as they can during the treatment period i.e. paid my salary in full. I am so very grateful with this as we i dont have to think of financial issues during this bumpy journey.

The Bad- MRI found another 2 new suspicious lumps and last night me and hubby decided we are not going to go through with egg/embryo feezing. The toughest decision we have to make so far in our 13 years together. I've been strong(ish) since i was diagnosed but last night i broke down and cry. We are supposed to go through our IVF treatment ( received dates and all) but found out i have cancer 2 weeks before procedure :(

Thank you [@Sandra123]‍ for creating this discussion thread.

  • Hi foxdale and a very warm welcome to the thread although sorry you find yourself here.

bless you lass.... this journey is hard enough without the added pain of decisions you and your husband  are having to make.

It is of course the right one but none the less heartbreaking. I don’t know if post treatment you will be able to pick back up..so a suspend rather than end. ️

I know it must be another kick in the teeth to know they have found more on mri... but it’s best they know exactly what they are dealing with so they can give you the right plan for the best possible outcome.

Of course you have cried.... I’d be more worried if after all the things you have had to process and come to terms with you hadn’t.

So get it all out lass. Hold your loved ones close. When you are ready ( make no doubt about it you will become ready) look this in the eye and stare it down. You can do this lass.

We are all here and have your back. Deep breaths for now x ️X
