Stay Strong

I have a busy day and come home to my lovely neighbour mowing my back lawn.  I chastise him and say  I would have got round to it, he knew I was struggling and came in whilst I was out.  These kindnesses make my day.  I think hubby is not looking well and voice my concerns.   Nope he says he's fine but a little niggle tells me otherwise.   I get up this morning and he admits he's not good..  appointment at Doctors and he has another infection.  I am being picked up by a friend to go to Wynyard Hall and gardens, the day is glorious and she has the soft top down,we arrive and I look like Bridget Jones after her ride in an open top car!  We have home made cake and coffee and meander the beautiful gardens looking at the pumpkins, sweetcorn and variety of flowers.  I suddenly spot a flower that hubby and I keep seeing  on our drives and it's driving him insane not knowing its name.  A lady hears us talking, takes a photo, Googles it and walks back to tell me, it's  called the common tansy. People are so thoughtful and kind!  Back home hubby laughs at the state of my hair, saying I look like I have been pulled through a hedge backwards,  charming!!  I tell him the plants name, lovely he says and promptly falls asleep on his sheepskin in the sunny conservatory.   Hopefully the antibiotics will kick in soon, I want my normal hubby back.

  • The most wonderful day in months has been had, Harry took a lateral flow test after which he had to lay down as he's squeamish just so he could be with Grandma, he hugged me so tightly that Lisa and Tugs were in tears.  Zippy took to our garden as though he lived here, the sun shone, it was warm and even hubby sat out, he and the puppy are now best friends.  We ate pizza, cheese and drank wine, laughed and smiled and love was all around.  After going in the hot tub they came back and we had more food and drink and Harry and I watched Gangsta Granny, ooh I could be one of those I said, no grandma your an alien goddess, that sounds good to me I said and ruffled is hair.  A good day tomorrow is in the offing.  Love Carol x

  • Yesterday was lovely.  Lunch with Lisa and lots of mother daughter chat.  We then drove to Barnard Castle to look at furniture where upon driving in I suddenly realised there was a police speed camera van and I have a feeling for the first time ever I'll have points on my licence but I was so happy I didn't care, Lisa said he got two blondes for the price of one!  It was so busy that I parked between two vans but we couldn't get out the car, then there was no turning point so Lisa hopped out, stopped the traffic so I could reverse, we did laugh.  So I had no idea where she was staying, we drove past the Staindrop sign, but she said nothing as apparently there were lots of signs to Staindrop, we arrived in Darlington and I pulled over as we were now miles away, oh she said I thought you knew a shortcut!!  So we had to do a U turn and drive another ten miles back, we finally saw the funny side.  The barn conversion was stunning and her roast was yummy and we got home about 9.30pm tired but happy.  Pauline's funeral this morning ill tell you how it went.  Love Carol x

  • Pauline's funeral was attended by half the village and we lined the village greens as her beautiful cream wicker casket covered in sun flowers and surrounded by many varieties of flowers drove up the hill followed by her close friends one of whom was dressed all in pink as she had wanted her life celebrated.  We waited the full time chatting in the sunshine and reminiscing about the past.  The Vicar appeared and said she was coming out to Dancing Queen, she call me this morning and said she had been cremated to Tina Turners Simply the Best, that's the way to do it!  Today has been wonderful, I drove to the barn conversion, looked after Harry whilst they measured the flat and looked at another property.  Because one bedroom is small they need to decide what to do and may pull out.  Lisa purchased a wooden horses head for her home it's so big I have had to fetch it here as no room in the boot could be found, Tugs bought three new bike wheels so they take preference apparently.  Hubby drove over and we sat in the sun eating roast beef and gravy sandwiches admiring the gorgeous views.  They tried to book for Christmas but it's already booked, they could all have stayed and a first family Christmas for all of us would have happened as the last time Ella was only a baby.  See you soon, love Carol x

  • Dear carol.

So glad it was a good day and everything went well at the cremation it sounds lovely and anyone would be happy to go to their maker like that.

Brendas younger brother died of cancer a few years ago,he was a farmer and built like a brick wall.at the funeral they played,"I've got a brand new combine harvester"and for seconds there was complete silence then everyone was laughing,it was just such a shock,he had cancer for years so planed everything.

My darling wife is getting crafty again, she wanted to go out to the back garden, she's out every time the weather is good sunning herself, only this time she wanted to walk she's quite good now so I said okay she got to the grass and said "you go in front and support me"me like an idiot did and she stood on my feet and gave me a push I couldn't do anything but fall backwards, brenda coming down with me she started laughing so much she'd planned it all. She's getting very good at catching me out.

    Take care.

    Love Billy xxxx

  • Dear Billy, thank you so much losing friends is hard, it shows you how vulnerable we all are.  So funny what Bren did, she still has it all but sometimes it's missing.  A man approached me at the funeral, Carol how are you, no idea who he was as he looked so old, apparently he was one of the jockeys my Mum had as a guest when she took in lodgers to keep a roof over her head, so once we had established who he was Keith came over and said his wife Mary was also in a care home with vascular dementia, as you will know Keith's wife is also in a home with the same but she was not safe to keep at home, so you are marvellous with Bren and should be proud of what you do.  A beautiful day here, lawn mowed and a man came to price up cleaning patio and drive but wants £300 so not sure what to do.  I wish I could do it but it's too much for me now.  Norman has gone to play golf he has colour in his face due to being outside so much whilst family were here.  We have a scan on Sunday then results so we should no more by 10th May.   Only five weeks until we see Faye I can't wait.  Take care, Carol x

  • Dear carol.     Carer came this evening went out to brenda,so I went to see if brenda wanted anything, carer said she keeps repeating herself and her eyes are nearly shut and she's complaining of bad headache.  She had second covid jab a few days ago, and first thought was TiA, so phoned 111 they asked plenty of questions and phoned ambulance they checked her over and said stroke, she improved while they were talking to her and checking her out, then said, hospital would be a waste of time as she's alot better already, just got to watch her just in case of another one.

That's 7shes had now.luckly only small ones,we were warned last year she could have a big one.

    Take care out still risk.

    Love Billy xxxx

  • Dear Billy, what a shock for you both.  I'm pleased she's at home or you couldn't see her and that would be distressing for you both.  Norman has come home and is saying his wrist and arm hurt him from playing golf, Men!!!   Love Carol x

  • Darling carol.

  • Darling carol.

Quick update brenda in hospital last night had some sort of fit,I managed to hold her stop her thrashing about and phoned neighbor she saw her and phoned ambulance, they were 3/4of an hour getting here in meantime brenda started improving she tried talking couldn't and she was shaking it slowly went off and she was talking slightly better every minute by time ambulance got here she was normal noisy self anyway they checked her over and took her in for a blood test and scan,I don't mind admiting it scared me,they said she's had another Tia that's 2in24 hours less than a week after having second astra jab.  Her last Tia before this was last October and before that it was may. You just wonder why so near together All of a sudden.im hoping no more.

She's had 7 now luckily All small ones.ive to wait for Monday phone Dr about results, I've my second covid vaccine on Tues first one I was bad with for two days.

Ps she's actually fell asleep just now hasn't slept All night, so I'm hoping to get a couple hours.

    Take care

  • Dear Billy,

Not sure what vaccine you have had but told by a nurse (friend) who has been giving the shots, that the Pfizer shot is usually worse for side effects the 2nd vaccine.  The Astra Zeneca it is usually the first that has the worst side effects.  I checked and the UK uses both of those and the third they are using we don't have here so I have no info on it.  I'm guessing you will be having the Astra Zeneca one, the same as Bren.

I hope the TIA's aren't happening because of the covid vaccine Bren has had.  Regardless hope she doesn't have more.  Must be worrying for you.

Hope you and Bella are doing well.

Take care love to you all.  Sue xx
