Stay Strong

I have a busy day and come home to my lovely neighbour mowing my back lawn.  I chastise him and say  I would have got round to it, he knew I was struggling and came in whilst I was out.  These kindnesses make my day.  I think hubby is not looking well and voice my concerns.   Nope he says he's fine but a little niggle tells me otherwise.   I get up this morning and he admits he's not good..  appointment at Doctors and he has another infection.  I am being picked up by a friend to go to Wynyard Hall and gardens, the day is glorious and she has the soft top down,we arrive and I look like Bridget Jones after her ride in an open top car!  We have home made cake and coffee and meander the beautiful gardens looking at the pumpkins, sweetcorn and variety of flowers.  I suddenly spot a flower that hubby and I keep seeing  on our drives and it's driving him insane not knowing its name.  A lady hears us talking, takes a photo, Googles it and walks back to tell me, it's  called the common tansy. People are so thoughtful and kind!  Back home hubby laughs at the state of my hair, saying I look like I have been pulled through a hedge backwards,  charming!!  I tell him the plants name, lovely he says and promptly falls asleep on his sheepskin in the sunny conservatory.   Hopefully the antibiotics will kick in soon, I want my normal hubby back.

  • Hi Sue and Billy, it's actually been sunny and hot so of course I mowed the lawn.  The sweat was running down my back so I asked hubby to dry my back off with the paper towels, but I was not cooling down so I had a shower, all I could see was bits of blue on the shower floor upon closer inspection it was the paper towel he'd left stuck to my back!!  Sue, I've lost count as well, but it's settling down as long as I don't talk or eat too much, sort of an enforced diet.  I'm trying to not get too excited about family coming as usually it all goes wrong, let's keep our fingers crossed.  I'm like you Sue my hair was so long and Jackie cut it quite short as I'd hacked it to bits apparently,, personally I thought it looked OK.  So not much to say really as it's been quiet.  See you soon, love Carol x

  • The family have met friends today so we're meeting them for tea.  Ella flew out of the restaurant on Sunday, into my arms and I swung her round in a a big circle, Grandma it's so lovely to see you in the flesh instead of on facetime, I couldn't have agreed more.  Alfie was happy as well and we had a lovely lunch.  Yesterday we set off in the rain for Saltburn, kids moaning about going to the seaside in the rain but Faye was adamant we were going, rain macs to the forefront!!  This made me smile as we did Blackpool in the rain when she was Alfie's age and she moaned a lot!! But when we arrived the sun came out and we had a fabulous day, sun, sand, sea, food and happy children what more could we want.  Hubby had his usual moans, trying to alter everyone's sensible plans so he looked like he was in control!!  Faye had gone early, parked in the Ship Inn car park so when we arrived they would move the car and we would park there, this was all relayed to his lordship but when we arrived he told Faye to keep their parking space, we would find somewhere else to park and it would save them walking!!  This is a man with one leg, terminal cancer and Saltburn is built on hills, he started arguing with Faye, in a nice way so I opened the door and got out before I said something.  I don't think he even noticed.  Why do men do this?  So we order lunch, the last burger he ordered at Tan Hill was horrible so I suggest he orders something else, five minutes later he orders a burger then struggles to eat it, making faces at me for sympathy, I ignore him, grab Ella and Alfie and off we go padding in the sea.  It was glorious and so calming, if I had realised how lovely it was going to be I would have dressed for the beach.  Back home we sit in the garden and us girls have our evening meal alfresco, then I had a cold glass of wine, life is so nice when you have loved ones and fine food, I want my old normal back, the new normal is rubbish!  They go home Thursday, it's going too fast, then it's back to treatment week, they come round too fast.  Love Carol x

  • Hi Billy and Carol,

Bren would be happy having had her hair done, especially with a perm.  We are doing ok here.  The cases here in Colac are finally dropping, slowly but dropping and no new cases the last dy or two.

Love the bits of blue in the shower Carol.  What did he use to dry you? Serviettes?  We only have white paper towels here.  Serviettes are all different colours.  Your hair probably wasn't that bad before, probably her way of you not cutting it again and using her.  Blackpool sounds wonderful.  and the kids would have enjoyed it.  Unfortunately Thursday will come around all too quickly, enjoy it while they are there.

Quiet here, been sewing masks again, still selling a few.  Deana has been making scrub hats for NIck's sister (she is a nurse) who has trouble finding them to fit her properly.  She has really long hair.  I have to be up early in the morning as Deana is off to the flower market again, (flower orders keep coming in) and Nick starts work early so will have Eli.

Treatments do come around quickly, seems you just get over one and it's time for the next.  All worth it if they help.

Take care, love to all.  Sue xx

  • Hi sue and Carol.

Have been told my new meds are for men who want a sex change, it completely removes the hormones that the cancer feeds on so not much choice,

I'll probably need a bra soon and my voice may change, if I'm lucky might not nead to shave so often.

Just hope it works and brings cancer count down.

Bren just said she's got some new bras i can use. My writing might go feminine as well.

Carol glad your getting out more really makes the week better.

Sue glad the virus is declining near you.

  • Hi everyone, what a fab day we had yesterday.  We went to Winston rocks which is in Teesdale, so the river Tees, the weather was gorgeous and I packed a picnic for us all, ham sandwiches, scillian lemonade, millionaire bites, crisps, apple juice and melon for afters, we all set off with our chairs, blankets, picnic basket and cosies, we were like The Famous Five books!  The river was warm and surrounded by trees, waterfalls and large flat rocks to sit on. Bucket and spades were provided by me and tadpole fishing was very popular.  Ella said my ham sandwiches were the Best Ever and scoffed as many as she could.  The children have had many swimming lessons so were safe in the shaded pool, I dangled my feet in the water and hiked the river bank with Alfie and Ella, Alfie was my little hero pulling me up rocks and making sure I didn't fall, hubby said at nearly 72 years old I was too old to go climbing but he was safe and sound at home so he couldn't stop me!  We stayed for five hours and wended our way home for a chicken curry cooked by me, scrumptious said Ella!  Tuesday we went to the Fox Hole for tea and I had sea bream as I can't chew!!  We took advantage of Dishi Rishis ten pounds off, so a gourmet meal for six plus our gin, merlot and beers for £90.00 it's so nice to get out after months of seeing no one, please God let it last.  There were tears when they left as we had laughed and chatted for four days, Ella wants to come for two weeks next time, Mummy said We'll see.  So a cold miserable day today, it suits my mood as its just us two again.  Billy I have a dentist appointment first thing tomorrow morning so the oral surgeon can see what is going on then I get an appointment.  Sue, how is it going over there, it seems a really harsh lockdown with a curfew!  We have a busy week next week, hospital, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, what a difference to this week.  The girls have texted me to see if I am going back to zumba, yes is the answer.  Mary has gone AWOL as Joe is shielding before his endoscopy next week, I never thought I would call her boring but its hard to keep a friendship alive when you don't see someone!!  Hey ho I'm sure it will all come right in the end.  Love to you all,  Carol x

  • I set the alarm for 8am as my dentist appointment was 9am but I neednt have bothered as Norman dragged the bins and bottle containers out at 7.15 so I got up.  My X Ray shows probably more floating bone plus I now need root canal treatment, excuse me whilst I go and stick my head in the oven!   I'm back!!  So I went to Binns to cheer myself up but it was shut!  I went to Waterstones to buy a book, have a coffee upstairs but guess what, it hasn't opened yet, so I put the book back on the shelf.  Off to Greggs to get hubby a pastie but they had cooked them so much they were burnt so I left it.  I gave up and came home, hubby made me a coffee and I've eaten the last of the millionaire bites, I have no idea what I will do for the rest of the day.  Its raining again and quite chilly, I'm missing my family and Mary has cancelled me!!  Now I know how others feel when they are cancelled out for having different opinions, Mary and Joe are staunch mask wearers, if you don't wear one you are apparently a murderer, just read that wearing them saves 5% of deaths that's a lot of people saved for the amount of effort and the danger I am finding wearing one.  This morning I steamed up that much I fell up the dentists stairs, coming back down I took my specs off and carefully walked down as slowly as I could as without my specs things are a bit blurry, but at least I got down in one piece.  The dentist asked me to sign the paperwork but I couldn't see it!!  So take care of yourself all of you, love Carol x

  • Hi Carol.

When i phoned for dental appointment, I asked about my mask she said don't bother all dentists will have thares on, i was in and out in under 1/2hr minus tooth all for £22.70 thought that was very good.

    Feeling alot better this morning.

    Hope you get sorted soon.

Real shame about your shopping spree can't believe they sell burnt pasties should give them away.

Remember once you get to the bottom the only way is up.

    Love Billy xxx

  • Dear Billy, what an easy time at the dentist you've had ours are extremely strict.  I was only joking about putting my head in the oven, it's electric so it would take a long time to cook me but if I put it on fan it would be quicker.  How is your treatment going after you said you would be more feminine, are we going to exchange lipstick and nail varnish colours!!  I feel like I've been up for hours as usually don't get dressed until 9.30 then coffee, the newspaper some washing on, Norman coming down then.its lunchtime, I think I may be having an afternoon nap.  The family are travelling home today and I'm Always on edge till they get there safely as its the M1 South at least not the M25 which was flooded yesterday for hours.  I'm going to see if there is a movie on, I watched the new four part channel 5 Deceived, what a load of tosh it was.  I love gritty dramas such as Waking the Dead with Trevor Eve, a dishy man!!  Hope Bren is doing well and that your mouth heals well. Xx

  • Hi Carol mouth feels fine just a bit strange where the tooth was no pain.

Those meds are a nucience every month i get 28 days of tablets (4) a day take all together morning, when i get to last few i go for a blood test, next day phone up chemo ward and reorder for next month, tablets come from hospital delivered to me.

Haven't had first blood test yet till 17th earliest could get in then they send first lot of tablets probably middle of next week i might start them then.

What knarks me is all this time (over three months) my cancer count is going up so it'll take longer to bring it back down again, as long as they work.

I'm thinking about lipstick and eye shadow but not yet.I'll see what bren has, maybe check her bra size as well.

    Keep well and keep safe.

    Love Billy xxx
