Stay Strong

I have a busy day and come home to my lovely neighbour mowing my back lawn.  I chastise him and say  I would have got round to it, he knew I was struggling and came in whilst I was out.  These kindnesses make my day.  I think hubby is not looking well and voice my concerns.   Nope he says he's fine but a little niggle tells me otherwise.   I get up this morning and he admits he's not good..  appointment at Doctors and he has another infection.  I am being picked up by a friend to go to Wynyard Hall and gardens, the day is glorious and she has the soft top down,we arrive and I look like Bridget Jones after her ride in an open top car!  We have home made cake and coffee and meander the beautiful gardens looking at the pumpkins, sweetcorn and variety of flowers.  I suddenly spot a flower that hubby and I keep seeing  on our drives and it's driving him insane not knowing its name.  A lady hears us talking, takes a photo, Googles it and walks back to tell me, it's  called the common tansy. People are so thoughtful and kind!  Back home hubby laughs at the state of my hair, saying I look like I have been pulled through a hedge backwards,  charming!!  I tell him the plants name, lovely he says and promptly falls asleep on his sheepskin in the sunny conservatory.   Hopefully the antibiotics will kick in soon, I want my normal hubby back.

  • Hi Carol.

    Love Billy xxx

  • Thanks Billy for the kind words.  I'm in a really weir mood today and so is hubby.  I didn't sleep well as it was too hot and when I went to have a G & T I only had about two inches of lemonade left, so basically gin and ice!!  I left the curtains open, put my tooth brace in and tossed and turned, finally falling asleep but then I woke at 5.30am with brilliant sunshine piercing my eyes so my eye mask went on, its a good job no one broke in or I would never have seen them.  So tuday I went shopping for food in what is our new normal, the land of the living dead, masks, plastic gloves, children staring at you as if you're a person from an alien planet, this will not be my new normal, I'd rather stay home.  Hubby went to Richmond and bumped into Luke, our nephew, he is doing really well with his new business venture, hubby was so down on him leaving Taylor Made but I know our family and we don't give in easily.  I've just cooked tea and we've fallen out!  He's constantly reading 24 hour news and commenting on it, protests, marches, getting annoyed about it and telling me how awful it is, so I asked him to stop, it's my f king opinion, don't listen he says, I'm afraid I swore back, how the hell can I not listen when I'm cooking, so don't fcking tell me then!!  Roll on next weekend when Faye comes, I need a break from the 24/7 being here on my own, my friends are so, so scared they've turned it into a daily panic, that's the problem when you've tackled cancer for three years, panic is no longer in my makeup.  Take care all of you, Carol x

  • We're not having a good day.  Hubby is not well and feeling very down, either that or he's not speaking to me.  I was supposed to have coffee with Margaret but she's not replied to my text.  Debbie next door came out in the garden, she's been like a hermit and is now only venturing out.  Hubby doesn't want tea, says he's not hungry but he's munched on biscuits, kit kat and scones plus two left over sausages.  Having watched the Grand prix he's having a nod off.  I can't believe that Boris is looking set to lock 50 year olds down, that would include Fayes husband, what is it with this Government's ageism, why not just shoot us all and be done with it!!  So if that comes in this week we won't see the family again, do they never consider how hard this is for us all, especially when they've all tittled off on holiday for six weeks.  Anyway tomorrow is another day.  Xx

  • Today is la better day, my cup of tea was well received and the sun is shining.  As my window cleaner has disappeared again I set to doing it myself, this led to my ordering new ladders, some rubber gloves and then led to washing the garage door, wd 40 the locks in the conservatory, hubby complained about the smell!!  I looked at him perched at the breakfast bar, sipping tea, munching biscuits and watching Jeremy Vine and bit my tongue and shut the door instead!  He decided to stop taking his indigestion tablets from the GP and now has rampant indigestion so I went to get him some Rennies, I popped to another chemist and you weren't even allowed in, I banged at the window, no one came, lots of huffing and puffing from me, another guy turned up, did the same as me until he read another notice saying "closed for lunch".  Let's just say I won't be going there again.  I am holding my breath that nothing goes wrong this week and that we get to see the family soon.  Harry had a lovely week at his out of school club, he's like Grandma, social, busy and happy being out, it's been tough on us both!!  I was truly hoping to visit them but they are going to the Lakes for a week this month, hubby has treatment again on the 18th and then hopefully they'll be back at school, well Harry will be, they're paying for it!  Not sure about Alfie and Ella as it seems the Unions are up in arms again, hey ho, life is not easy at the moment.  See you soon, love Carol x

  • Dear Carol and Billy,

Billy, Such good news that Bren is improving slowly.  Hoping your cancer count drops when you start the new tablets.

Carol. how did go with the tumble dryer, or am I too early yet?  So sorry to hear about the hedgehog,  not surprised you were heartbroken.  I agree with Norman re the men at the tip, you'd think they would help.  Lucky you having Faye and Ella visit next weekend.
I hope Norman seems better today.  I can understand Boris wanting to lock 50 year olds down, this virus is devasting, and at least here the majority of deaths are in the 50+ age group.  It just so hard though and unfair the restrictions that are placed on all of us.

Our premier has declared a state of emergency in Victoria, restrictions are getting tighter, we now have stage 4 restrictions in Melbourne.  They actually have a curfew now, and aren't allowed out between 8pm till I think 5am.  Bree was so worried as she works nights but they are still allowed out as she works at a bakery, although she has a letter from her employer to show police if she is stopped.

We don't have quite as harsh restrictions here being out of Melbourne, but aren't allowed any visitors in the house.  Deana has closed her shop and is only doing online or phone orders, although that may change as she has her doubts whether the flower markets will still be trading with the latest restrictions.  But with all that we are well, Eli got his test results back and he is fine, no Covid, still waiting for Nicks results, but we didn't think he had it, just a cold.  And at least now we have internet back, our server had some sort of server issue and lots lost internet, which upset Eli as he couldn't watch his shows on the tablet.

Take care and stay safe.  Love Sue xx

  • Dear Carol and Billy,

It has been so cold today, we had snow this morning, we don't normally get snow here.  It was very pretty but oh so cold.  Finally got Nick's results back this afternoon, he is clear, so he's off to work tomorrow so I have Eli tomorrow.  Deana is doing a flower run in the morning and when she gets back she is off to get the first service on the new car.  So it will seem normal I'll have Eli all day, just like when they are both working.  Have to wait and see if she'll still be able to get flowers after this week.  They are still open this week, but have to wait to see if they are open and Friday.

Not much else happening here.  Most things are shut except supermarkets, pharmacies, butchers, fruit and vegetables, bottle shops and petrol stations.  Most others are doing online only with contactless deliveries.  We will have a minimum 6 weeks of this.  Hope it's better in the UK.  We don't hear much about how it is elsewhere.

Take care, stay safe and love to all.  Sue xx

  • Dear Sue, it actually sounds worse there than here!  I've been fir coffee to Margaret's house, she is the only friend like me who wants to get back to normal.  She did Australia for her 70th last year and loved it.  So we had a laugh and then my mouth started to swell up again due to all the talking!!  When I got home I rang the hospital for my medical extraction report and they refused to give me them, a solicitor or my dentist have to request them, that can be sorted I said, guess what five minutes later the original dentist called me and has now referred me to an oral surgeon for more help.  Norman insisted that we buy a new Boche tumbler but they are £500.  So the guy came, stripped it down and the whole workings inside were made by Hotpoint, so much for German products being German.  A small piece of metal had got jammed in the fan so you can imagine the noise it was making, he retrieved it, handed it to me and we both stared at it, neither of us had a clue where it had come from, it was like a pin that you fix Carmen rollers in with, so it cost £35 and is fixed!  It's very cold and damp here Sue but fortunately no snow but being August we shouldn't have any.  I'm hoping seeing Faye gives us a boost for a week or so, we have both admitted that we are getting depressed with it all, it was so nice to talk to another human being face to face, interact, laugh and be silly, I don't think anything will go back to normal until at least 2021, if its winter you don't mind snuggling down but not in the summer.  Take care all,  love Carol x

  • So I went to get my hair cut!  Mask on, sheets of clear plastic wrapped round me, are you sending me via Amazon, I asked Jackie?  I was so hot I thought I would melt, are you OK she asked I can feel the heat emanating from you, just go for it before I expire I said through the mask.  Hubby said I looked years younger, sort of a back handed comment I thought!   I know you're sick of the tooth saga but as nothing else is going on you're going to hear about it anyway!!  As my face was swollen again I rang the hospital where it was taken out, can I have my medical records please I ask politely, apparently no, unless a solicitor or dentist requests them, so panic set in straight away on their end.  I ring my own dentist and request they ask for them, she tells me I'm the only one that can get them as they're mine.  As I put the phone down the hospital dentist calls me, it's the first he knew about it, seeing as we've been in lockdown I tell him I'm not surprised.  So I now am back on antibiotics and awaiting an appointment to see an oral surgeon, it's not looking good!  Anyway I ventured out to town, nails re done, I bought Ella two pretty T shirts, denim shorts with a sparkly bum bag for her money and some leggings, I hope she likes them. We are going out for Sunday lunch, hubby pulled a face, it's expensive he says, I really don't give a fig I say back, we're going, he knows when he's beat.  He seems to have got over the last treatment as the muggy weather doesn't help him so that's good before they all arrive.  We're not seeing them unt Sunday now as they are seeing Gordys brother Saturday.  Anyway that's about it as life is not that exciting at the moment.  Take care all, love Carol x

  • Dear Carol,

What I'd do to get a haircut, my hair is getting so long.  Most of our hairdressers are closed, MIne actually is still working but very limited and I'm not game to go.  It Deana's MIL and her hubby has all sorts of health issues and I'd worry that I'd accidently pass it on.  (he worries about Jan getting the virus from one of her clients).  So I'm putting up with it, but the way it's going it will be to my waist before I feel ok going.  And as much as I love getting my nails done I'm almost thinking I won't bother geting them done even when they are operating.  Still horrible weather here although no more snow, thank goodness.  Your poor tooth, the sooner they manage to get it sorted the better,  How many lots of antibiotics have you had because of it?  I've lost count.  I had Eli Wednesday, then again today, Deana went to the market again this morning, and then was busy making up arrangements.  She has set up in the garage, and does contactless deliveries.

Like you list here is really quite boring apart from watching Eli, No-one visits and we can't visit anyone.  Although tomorrow I am going to the supermarket, need to get cat litter for the cats.

It's really sad when that is almost the highlight of my week.
On a good note, I had tickets for Cirque du Soleil back in March that was cancelled, they have issued new tickets for April next year, I'm just hoping it will be able to go ahead then.  But its something to look forward to.

Good to hear Norman seem to have got over his last treatment.

Take care and stay safe.  Love to all Sue xx

  • Hi sue.

Hair dresser comes to us, brens really happy to have it done, managed a perm last week, managed to get a plastic and rubber sink that sits on her shoulders with a outlet pipe that goes outside so bren can sit down all the time. She can't stand up without support so couldn't lean over the sink for rinsing properly.

Hope you're still OK and keeping safe.

Love to you and all Billy xxx
