Stay Strong

I have a busy day and come home to my lovely neighbour mowing my back lawn.  I chastise him and say  I would have got round to it, he knew I was struggling and came in whilst I was out.  These kindnesses make my day.  I think hubby is not looking well and voice my concerns.   Nope he says he's fine but a little niggle tells me otherwise.   I get up this morning and he admits he's not good..  appointment at Doctors and he has another infection.  I am being picked up by a friend to go to Wynyard Hall and gardens, the day is glorious and she has the soft top down,we arrive and I look like Bridget Jones after her ride in an open top car!  We have home made cake and coffee and meander the beautiful gardens looking at the pumpkins, sweetcorn and variety of flowers.  I suddenly spot a flower that hubby and I keep seeing  on our drives and it's driving him insane not knowing its name.  A lady hears us talking, takes a photo, Googles it and walks back to tell me, it's  called the common tansy. People are so thoughtful and kind!  Back home hubby laughs at the state of my hair, saying I look like I have been pulled through a hedge backwards,  charming!!  I tell him the plants name, lovely he says and promptly falls asleep on his sheepskin in the sunny conservatory.   Hopefully the antibiotics will kick in soon, I want my normal hubby back.

  • With wooly socks, a large gin, two paracetamol and a warm blanket I had a good night!  However I was awoken by the doorbell at 7.20am as I can't rush at the moment they had gone by the time I git there, who the heck rings the doorbell during lockdown and then goes?  Hubby was very brave and made his own cup of tea and has been very concerned about me. So very little to report as I'm housebound again.  Take care all.  Xx

  • Dear Carol.  A broken toe really doesn't sound much, but gee they hurt.   I've broken two toes, separate occasions but both times hitting the bedpost while making the bed.  Kids were only young when I did it the first time, and they took great delight in purposely knocking my foot, they thought the faces I made was hilarious.  It felt much better by the two week mark.  What I didn't like was the numbness as it was healing for for what seemed like months afterwards (Dr said I'd damaged nerves), I did eventually pass.  The second time didn't seem as bad and I didn't have the numbness.  Crutches would make it easier for you, if you have them, although they are awkward.

Not much happening here, although I did have my flu shot today. Then bought a nice bag to put the baby clothes I'd bought and pram blanket I made for Vicki's baby Anna. 2 weeks old, and she's gorgeous.  My wool arrived that I had ordered, so I have started the scarf I'm making.  It should be nice when finished, it has a lacy pattern with scalloped columns.  Also has a frringe along one long side, in a navy.  It will go with lots that I have.

Tomorrow I have Eli, so hopefully will get a bit of knitting done while he is napping in the afternoon.

Billy, No problem at all, just glad there was nothing else added.

Take care, Love to all.  Sue xx

  • Hi sue injection was a bit strange nurse injected it all then a nother nurse came in with a gigercounter first nurse said she wasn't sure it'd gone in right (my thought was where has it gone then) any way checked both arms and chest were radioactive so it worked OK. Then found waiting room was shut so waited nearly three hours in the car was really fed up nearly fell asleep having scan. Then home, bren had been crying for hours 10 minutes home and bren was asleep. Hope everyone is well as can be.

    Love Billy xxx

  • Dear all, a day out yesterday to take his broken leg to be repaired but I wasn't allowed in so spent nearly two hours sat in the blooming car, great.  Margaret rang, it's Charlotte's 30rh next week and she's doing a socially distanced afternoon tea for four of them and needed to borrow some cake stands, it's a shame I won't be there!!  I'm fed up today, don't ask me why just that the world is going mad, people worrying about statues when history can't be rewritten, what sthe point?  Faye texted, Ella and she had tears this morning and did colouring in of mindfulness bubbles, happy about taking Radar the dog for a walk, happy about the hospital in the North that looks after Grandads leg, sad because they can't see Grandma, that made me sad!!  Chris is getting me some shopping, wish I'd asked for cake, I couldn't half eat some.  It is so cold here that I've given up and put the heating on, I don't need to expire due to hypothermia.  Sue I know it's your winter but it's not much better here.  I've got no interest in knitting at the moment, that's the problem, the less you do the less you feel like it.  Billy, sounds like a rotten day for you both, poor Bren, bit like me yesterday sitting alone in the car, at least I know why it's happening.  I'm off to get a cup of tea and find a biscuit.  See you soon, love Carol x

  • Dear Carol and Billy,

Neil had a couple of those also Billy, he was never that keen on getting them done.  Closing waiting rooms, I understand it, but having to wait 3 hours in your car is a bit long.  I had my flu shot the other dsay and you have to wait 15 mins afterwards to make sure you don't have a reaction, was told to wait in my car near the door, so they could keep an eye on me.  Seems ridiculour to me, but it's what we have to do.  Poor Bren, you would have been gone ages, no wonder she was upset.

Carol, the world is going mad. still hoping it gets back on an even keel before long.  We have some cake here Carol, A yummy Lemon Syrup cake that Deana made.  It has been so cold here, I think we are going to have a really cold winter this year, at least the last couple of days we've had blue sky, but the mornings are starting at about 2 degrees.  My electric blanket is getting some use of a night.  We cheated tonight for tea and had take away fish and chips.  My scarf is looking good so far got about 6 inches done yesterday.  Not looking forward to blocking it once it's finished, and I'm pretty sure it will need it.  Going to the library tomorrow to pick up some books I'd reserved, they are finally open again, but limiting how many can go in at a time.  It's all good, I'll wait if need be.

Poor Bree is having problems with Colby now that school has gone back.  He was just getting used to doing school work at home and now it's all changed again.  Hope he settles quicker than he did when home schooling started.

Take care and love to all.  Sue xx

  • Dear all, Lisa loves her little gift to cheer her up and the family is feeling a little better all round.  I've picked up my knitting again and sat and re watched Dr Foster on BBC I player, forgot how good it was.  A quiet day, face timed Faye, Ella happy to show us her new playsuit.  They sent a photo of the peacock that has wandered their road for three years, it's bloody enormous now and had flown over the house and sat on Ella's bedroom window ledge peering in at them, it then turned its back to show its beautiful feathered tail, Ella said it makes a terrible noise Grandma and proceeded to demonstrate it, she was very good!  They've rung the RSPCA over the past three years but no one is interested in taking it away, Faye says its really noisy and obviously lonely.  Again it's chilly and wet, if it gets better I'm popping to Sue's.  Poor Colby, this is going to be Ella's problem Sue, she loves being home.  See you soon, love Carol x

  • Dear Carol, It's good to hear Lisa and her family are feeling a little better.  The peacock would be so pretty, they are beautiful birds.  I can't say I've ever heard the noise they make.  It's still cold here and raining today, which only makes it seems colder.  I think this whole lockdown has been so hard on the kids, at least we understand why, not sure kids really understand.  Well tomorrow I'm goin g to Melbourne, catch up with Bree, see her kids, and get my quilt washed.  I'm so looking forward to it.  I've booked my car into the panel beaters on the 22nd.  Deana noticed the paint is lifting on the roof, (it's back to bare metal in a couple of spots) so got a quote to get it resprayed, The quote wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.  We'll manage with just the two for a week.  If I need one during that week, I'll just have to take Deana to work and use hers.

    Not much else happening.

Take care, love to all.  Sue xx

  • Hi all, the hospital was a whinge fest from hubby despite knowing what we had to do, to make matters worse I wasn't allowed in at all!  Try explaining the situation through a mask, he needs my help, where can I collect him from please as its a one way system, I was made to stand outside until a nurse came to see me, she allowed me into the blood room so I could help him, but the walk was four times the distance but by this time common sense had gone out the window and he stubbornly hobbled along, he admitted next time he will have a wheelchair.  This policy really hasn't been thought through properly, it's like all businesses, commands from management when on the ground floor real life happens to be totally unworkable.  One poor man of 81 years with oxygen tubes up his nose and a tank and a mask said he couldn't bear it any longer and came and stood with me, it was so hot in the hospital that extra coverings were making it unbearable.  When they took me into see Norman he asked how I'd managed it, just be pleasant I said it goes a long way.  We got0 a tax rebate today, hurrah he says, I went into town and spent it all on paying bills!  Faye face timed, Ella came on all smiles, her homework had been done and it was a card to grandma and Grandad, how lovely we both say, she is learning to tell the time, oh that's easy Grandad says, well could you teach Ella then Mummy asks!  Sue I've just done my little herb tub, curly parsely, MINT, thyme and small yellow pepper plant, it looks really good, you would be proud of me as I have just finished the second front of Ella's cardigan, it drove me mad last night as I couldn't find my cale needle even though I'd just used it, sofa cushions turned upside down, under the sofa, down the side, I was getting mad as it had only been two minutes since using it, I gave up and when I went back it was on the arm of the sofa which is cream stripes, I'd managed to place it perfectly down the stripe pattern making it invisible!!  Take care all, love Carol x

  • Not a good day, hubby is tetchy, forgetful and anxious about everything that's going on.  His I pad isn't working (it was) his TV is pixellating and its my fault, he can't retune  his TV even though I have shown him how, I'm trying to mow the lawn, sort out birthday presents for the girls and its getting on my nerves!  Everything I say is shot down in flames or ignored because the TV is more interesting, well we've had ten weeks of peace, I knew it wouldn't last!  It's treatment day tomorrow so a couple of hours on my own.  Margaret has invited me for birthday cake on Thursday, I'll be off like a shot, Freedom beckons.  Love Carol x

  • So today I've had a conversation with a lesser spotted woodpecker that had conviently flown into my conservatory whilst I was cutting the hedge back that he who must be obeyed complains about everytime we get in the car!  So he's having treatment, I'm covered in Bush and when I went in the house this massive baby bird is head butting the window, gasping for air and then laying on its side exhausted.  Come on you silly bird I say trying to brush it tiwards the door, it decides to fly in the opposite direction, don't do that I scold, it ignores me, come on silly bird, bang and it collapses again, have you ever tried to catch a bird on your own?! Colin was mowing his lawn so I shout if he can help, he apparently is terrified of catching covid so he spans around me and then looks terrified when I follow him into my house, oh what a beautiful bird he says, we don't see many lesser spotted woodpeckers, great I say, can you catch it!!  Then my phone rings, it's hubby can I get him as he is ready, I'm trying to catch a bird, what sort he asks, I tell him, oh they are lovely he says, I'll show you one in my bird book, don't bother I tell him the real thing is pooping all over my windows.  So the bird flew off, hubby came home, all is well and I'm exhausted but managing to drink a white wine spritzer.  Take care all of you, love Carol x
