Stay Strong

I have a busy day and come home to my lovely neighbour mowing my back lawn.  I chastise him and say  I would have got round to it, he knew I was struggling and came in whilst I was out.  These kindnesses make my day.  I think hubby is not looking well and voice my concerns.   Nope he says he's fine but a little niggle tells me otherwise.   I get up this morning and he admits he's not good..  appointment at Doctors and he has another infection.  I am being picked up by a friend to go to Wynyard Hall and gardens, the day is glorious and she has the soft top down,we arrive and I look like Bridget Jones after her ride in an open top car!  We have home made cake and coffee and meander the beautiful gardens looking at the pumpkins, sweetcorn and variety of flowers.  I suddenly spot a flower that hubby and I keep seeing  on our drives and it's driving him insane not knowing its name.  A lady hears us talking, takes a photo, Googles it and walks back to tell me, it's  called the common tansy. People are so thoughtful and kind!  Back home hubby laughs at the state of my hair, saying I look like I have been pulled through a hedge backwards,  charming!!  I tell him the plants name, lovely he says and promptly falls asleep on his sheepskin in the sunny conservatory.   Hopefully the antibiotics will kick in soon, I want my normal hubby back.

  • Dear all, what absolutely gorgeous weather we are having, although today is now wet and windy.  Hubby is recovering from his fall and his bruises are fading a little, considering his age and the many problems he has done well.  Harry rang me yesterday to tell me about his new school, it's still all on line but interaction with the teachers is far more affective.  He will learn Latin he tells me, Oh that's good I say, you can tell me off in Latin and I won't know what you are saying, giggles from the other end, however Daddy learnt Latin he says so he can translate!!  I really haven't done much as it's been too hot, thank goodness Sarah came back to save me sweating over the loos.  We were going to the garden centre as I had watched Alan Titchmarsh make a cascading strawberry urn and it looked so good but as usual Hubbies problems stopped us, his repeat prescriptions needed a 'review" the doctor will call after 2pm, he didn't ring until 4.45pm what a wasted afternoon!  Margaret had foot pain, so she rang the surgery, the GP wasn't interested at all she tells me, her hip x Ray came back normal, so now it's her feet, she has had nearly every part of her body x rayed since she retired and guess what, nothing is wrong with her!!  It's a wonder she's not been on here asking for advice but she's my friend so I listen patiently.  Sue, how is Eli doing?  Billy you are such a strong person and like Norman won't give in.  So we are off to pick up a new ceiling light and some storage boxes to do the little bedroom for when the family can come home.  Love to you all, Carol x

  • Dear Carol,

Eli doesn't have Corona virus (we knew that) they were just following procedure, they rang this morning and said he was clear.  He is still home from daycare this week though because of his ear.  You now wouldn't know he was sick at all.  No temp, eating, happy, playing and very noisy.  So today Deana has gone to the flower market, and has been in the shop all day, still there now and it's 10pm.  Nick has been homw this week, he was given a certificate for work as we had to self isolate.  He isn't going back to work till next week.  He so loves spending time with Eli.
It was my brothers birthday yesterday, I tried to ring him yesterday but no answer, but caught him today, had quite a long conversion, they are doing well and he is back at work now.  He was on holidays, they had planned to go to the Phillipines, but overseas travel was cancelled, so ended up just spending it at home.
I found a great app for my tablet, I didn't realise I could get books from the library on it.  Works great, shame I didn't realise earlier.  Bonus too, I don't need the light on to read in bed.
I love those strawberry urns.  You can also make something similar with different sized terracotta pots.  A friend has a large pot, with smaller pots in the large (3 high)  Strawberries planted in each pot, looks great with them cascading down.
Norman has done well to be recover so quickly from his fall.

Enjoy that summer weather of yours.

Love to all, Take care.  Sue xx

  • Dear all, the summer weather has disappeared along with my well being!  My tooth that is left has swollen again so I now have earache and a sore throat, so another trip to the dentist and more antibiotics!  I have so much rubbish for the tip that I sent hubby 0n a reconnaissance to see how things stand,  it's not good he reports back, they are still queuing around the block, it's cold, wet and miserable so we're having chocolate cake to compensate, the rubbish can stay put in the garage until things settle down.  We've eaten spagh bol two nights running, I was going to freeze half but my freezer is full of Linda's stuff!  She shouts through the fence at me and starts rambling on about the tradesman that's been to fix her American freezer, I can't get a word in edgeways, then she tells me she's drunk two large glasses of wine straight off as she's so annoyed about what he's done. So she spent £140 on a new fan, call out fee and fitting, it still isn't working, she calls him back, sorry he says he's off to a funeral, sounds like she needs a new thermostat but he can't get one for six weeks.  She decides to ring the manufacturers herself and buy one, they then tell her it doesn't have a thermostat as its built into a back panel and can't be fixed, hence us eating two tonnes of spagh bol!!  Sue, what a relief that Eli is on the mend, this world is in such a state at the moment we take each blessing as it comes.  My brother rang me the other night and we had a good catch up, he's younger than me and has diabetes, but he has kept his garage business going all the way through lockdown, I'm proud of him for doing so.  Norman's wrist is still badly bruised so he won't be playing golf anytime soon.  So take care all of you, love Carol x

  • Hi everyone, it's still cold and wet and I've just stood outside the Chinese for 40 minutes waiting for our food as I'm sick of cooking!  It was scrumptious and worth the cold wait.  Hubby will have to wear a mask at the his next hospital visit, I texted the girls and said to wait for the screams, he has done nothing but say how stupid people look and he will never wear one!  So Mary is making him a black and white one, Newcastle United colours, I've just told him and he has accepted the status quo.  I took the mickey out of him this morning, he said no one will know who he is, don't worry I say I'll save the next wrist tag and pin it to your mask, he looked appalled so I back tracked and said I would get Mary to embroider his name across the front, we did end up laughing about it.  Harry has called me and said Oh my God grandma I've had the best week Ever!  He is so happy with his new schooling and gave me a breakdown of his subjects, twenty minutes later I said did he want to go and play his new game, yes please Grandma as I've run out of things to tell you.  Faye face timed, we got a wave from Alfie, no more as he was in the middle of his Fortnite game, Ella was in her wigwam, headphones on watching her I pad surrounded by cuddly toys, another wave and that was it!  Faye tried to tice her out but we said to leave her as tears had been shed again over maths.  Poor little mite, I hated sums so my sympathy is with her.  Hope all is well out there in forum land.  Love Carol x

  • I'm sat watching old black and white movies drinking pink gin with summer berries although the weather leaves a lot to be desired.  So apart from going for the papers we've not ventured far.  Coming out if the village shop in the rai one of my old friends is sat in his car, he winds the window down and says how lovely I look for early morning, I don't reiterate  his comments as he has obviously put about two stone on during lockdown!  Faye has gone out with Alfie on their bikes, she tries to spend time with him as Ella is five years younger and takes up a lot of time with her home schooling.  I know she has had it hard so I've sent some de stressing body and hand lotion to keep her calm.  I've given up on the papers today, it's all bad news, politics and people protesting and rioting, have the last three months been a complete waste of time, lives and money when BLM activists are totally ignoring all that has gone before.  If this leads to another lockdown who is going to abide by it when politicians are leaving people to run riot, tearing down statues, scaring horses so they bolt and injure mounted police, it has all been a complete and utter waste of our patience and sacrifices.  I told Norman weeks ago that this would happen and once again I have been proven right.  Sorry for the rant but honesty has been part of my blog and I will not change that.  Love to you all, Carol x

  • Hi Carol. Glad you're both still OK.

Got a bit of good news other day psychiatrist said bren can come off some of her meds, just got to wait a few weeks to make sure her new meds don't have any bad side effects.. At least something is going right for once.

I  Got a bit of not so nice news my uninvited guest has decided to give me a bite not bad yet, more scans and tests to be done over next few months then more meds and see what happens.

    Love Billy xxx

P.s Bella finished her meds need water sample soon.

  • Dear Carol,

A holiday here tomorrow,(Queen's Birthday) I asked Deana earlier what day it was, they are all blending into each other and I had no idea,  And I have no idea why we have it tomorrow, It's not her birthday at all tomorrow.  A lot of things in the big freezer in the garage will have to be thrown out as a power cord caught when it was closed at some stage and a lot of things have defrosted.  A lesson learnt.  We check next time.  At least the 40 minute wait at the Chinese was worth it if you both enjoyed it.  Good to hear that Harry is enjoying his new school.  We have Nick's Mum and Dad over for tea on Friday.  A lovely lamb curry with coconut rice, and a yummy Clementine cake for sweets.  So much rice left over that we had Fried rice tonight, A little different with rice that had been cooked in coconut milk, but still good. and a chocolate mousse that was so rich none of us could eat a full serve, Leftovers for tomorrow.  No much else happening here, it's cold and wet and I don't want to go out even though I can again.

All this rioting is terrible and so destructive.  It won't solve anything in the end.

Billy, Good to hear that Bren is able to come of some of her med.  Is the bid of not so nice news further to your previous , I hope not, some good news for you is warranted.

Take care, love to all.  Sue xx

  • Hi sue.

Yes repeating myself couldn't remember, had a quick look missed earlier one. About me sorry about that..

    Billy xxx

  • Hi everyone, I've not had a good night as whilst cleaning my teeth I broke my toe!  No it wasn't the gin, I caught it on a metal stand that I've had for months, the pain was excruciating.  I strapped it up laid on the bed with just a blanket over me as it was too painful to get under the covers.  So I woke up shivering and in pain, 2am, 4am, and so on, I was glad to hobble down stairs this morning.  Hubby stuck his head in and said, don't bother bringing me a cup of tea in the morning, he's so thoughtful!  We've visited A & E as if it was dislocated it needed resetting.  The nurse was such a nice guy, it's broken he decides, strapped it up and then told me how he'd broken all of his on New Year's eve falling drunk up the stairs, that makes me feel better I say.  So Norman and I now have matching hobbles as it's both our right legs.  I'm now going to elevate it and nod off.  Lovely to hear from you both, Billy that's better news about Bren.  Sue, you've made me hungry so I'm nibbling on a biscuit as my mouth has swollen up due to my painful tooth grinding, pain filled night!! Love Carol x
