Stay Strong

I have a busy day and come home to my lovely neighbour mowing my back lawn.  I chastise him and say  I would have got round to it, he knew I was struggling and came in whilst I was out.  These kindnesses make my day.  I think hubby is not looking well and voice my concerns.   Nope he says he's fine but a little niggle tells me otherwise.   I get up this morning and he admits he's not good..  appointment at Doctors and he has another infection.  I am being picked up by a friend to go to Wynyard Hall and gardens, the day is glorious and she has the soft top down,we arrive and I look like Bridget Jones after her ride in an open top car!  We have home made cake and coffee and meander the beautiful gardens looking at the pumpkins, sweetcorn and variety of flowers.  I suddenly spot a flower that hubby and I keep seeing  on our drives and it's driving him insane not knowing its name.  A lady hears us talking, takes a photo, Googles it and walks back to tell me, it's  called the common tansy. People are so thoughtful and kind!  Back home hubby laughs at the state of my hair, saying I look like I have been pulled through a hedge backwards,  charming!!  I tell him the plants name, lovely he says and promptly falls asleep on his sheepskin in the sunny conservatory.   Hopefully the antibiotics will kick in soon, I want my normal hubby back.

  • It was so cold and windy here this morning that I had a lie in, what is there to get up for!  Did some homework, then some lunch, watched a movie, Harry skyped and that cheered us up, he said Daddy was sorting the plumbing out for the lake, what lake I ask in amazement, he means the garden pond Lisa says, good grief I thought I was going to have to buy a canoe for him, lots of giggles and kisses and they are going to watch the movie The Trolls.  Watching the covid 19 news, face masks are useless, more likely to get it from wearing one than not.  Hubby is having left over chops for tea, he was watching Lisa cooking a large ham, very nice if you can get one.  She was following a recipe but her Plum jam had mould on it but she'd scraped it off, don't let Anthony know she whispered.  We saw all the chocolate eggs they had, a run around the block will be needed after eating them.  So off to warm tea up, see you soon, love Carol x

  • Hi Carol.

Good ::-   Glad your both feeling well and Norman is eating better. Fingers crossed for next treatment.

Bella might have a problem, she finished her meds last week. Today I've noticed she's bleeding again. BUT i realised she could be in season, so going to phone vet to see what to do. Weather a water sample would do or wait a month and see. It never ends in this house.. Apart from that everything is usual

    Love to all.... Billy xxx

  • Hi Friends,

Billy, No you didn't give it to me, it came from Eli.  Two year olds are wonderful at sharing their bugs, not much else, but that's what happens.  Toilet paper is still an issue when shopping here,  People must have that much at home, I really don't understand why it's still hard to get.  Not at the desperate stage yet, but it would be nice to get some.  It's great that you are using the hoist, even though Bren isn't so keen yet.  It has to make it a little easier for you.  Hope Bella is ok and it only that she is in season.  Hope you and Bren are staying well.

Carol, Like you I would much rather be doing my usual things, than we we have currently.  We are still under lockdown and will be till at least 11th May.  Like you though we are getting things done.  They are handing out fines here, I read the other day that over 500 had been given.  People just not staying at home.  Your garden must be lkovely insect/bees and love bird boxes, and squirrel home.  IT's nice to get outside in the garden.  We haven't been able to do much of that, weather has been terrible, although today was pleasant and tomorrow we have a nice day preducted.  It will be great if private hospitals take on all the cancer patients, so they don't have to wait.  It's strange not being able to see family at this time of year.  Cass and I exchanged texts, Bree and I spoke on the phone.  At least the kids still had a good Easter.  Eli found all his eggs, we had an egg hunt inside (weather was terrible), he's a bit of a chocolate fiend, loves it.  Hope your Easter wasn't too bad.  Hope you had some chocolate.  I used to do that too sometimes, go for a walk and go too far then ring Neil to come and get me, he used to get annoyed.  It was years ago after I'd had surgery, was told to walk and feeling ok and go to far then it would it would dawn on me just how far I'd gone.  A shame you have to wait till the 20th for your curtains, although it's too too long now. Hopefully Norman's treatment is doing some good, it's great that he seems to be feeling better.  We've actually had the wood fire burning the last couple of days, but let it go out yesterday.  We have had some great meals over the last few days.  Good Friday we cooked fresh fish and made chips with salad, then the day after as we had the fryer out for the fish we had fried chicken with salad, then Sunday night Nachos, and tonight home made burgers.  Sounds very much like take-away but all home cooked.

I think I may have Eli tomorrow, he still hasn't quite got over his cold, and last night before bed we notice he has a rash, probably just a viral rash, which he does seem to get with a cold, but means they won't have him at daycare.  I'll find out once Nick gets him ready in the morning.  It will be a long day as Deana has gone to the flower market.  I had to laugh last night she was getting her things ready for the morning and couldn't find her car keys.  Then remembered Eli had them probably Friday, and now they are nowhere to be found.  So she is going in my car, which isn't a bad thing, it will get a run instead of the couple of short drives locally that it's had. Then will have him again Wednesday.  That's pretty much it for the week.

Stay well, and take care.  Love to all.  Sue xx

  • Hi sue

Bren and me as good as can be.

Strange your still struggling to get toilet roll, all our shops are full of them now, couldn't believe how many Easter eggs we in the shops on Wednesday bet they'll be selling them cheap for three months or more trying to get rid. Glad your still having young ones to look after.

I've got fingers crossed for Bella hope vet has an idea what best to do..

    Keep well..... Billy xxx

    Love to all. Xxx

  • Dear all, been busy with hubby and his treatment, mind we nearly missed it as he thought it was tomorrow,  I  checked at 11am and he was there for 1pm, panic Stations, see she who must be obeyed was right as usual.  On the way back from dropping him off I called at the village shop as our milk had gone off and we needed butter, £40 later as I staggered to the car with more gin, tonic, cheese, pasta, soap and anything else I thought I needed, I'd forgotten milk and butter!!  So back I went, Jayne said well at least you got your essentials, very funny.  Anyway by 3pm he was ready to come home but he said it was paddy's alley, a new room to keep them all apart, all the patients from another hospital and the staff run ragged.  I blitzed my kitchen whilst he was out as it's never getting done properly as he's always in it!!  Harry has just rung to say thank you for his new T shirt, him and Daddy were playing cricket in the garden.  Off to cook tea now, take care, love Carol x

  • Der Friends,

Billy, it's because of people like one moron in South Australia, that has stockpiled 150x32 rolls of toilet paper, he also has 150 bottles of hand sanitiser.  He actually tried to return them to the supermarket that he'd purchased them from.  I liked their response which you can see in this little clip from one of news services, it was shown on the news last night.  9Soci.al/pEYX30qxXHl   Hopefully the link works.  I haven't whats left in the shops from Easter yet but they usually sell it cheap for a week or two after.  It's really good watching Eli, and it fills the time  He's such a funny little boy.  Has me in fits with his antics.

Carol, It's good to hear Norman's treatment is continuing, there are stories of treatment being put on hold due to this virus.  I always write a list when I go shopping, otherwise I'll forget something I was meant to get.  A funny storry with Neil, (he used to do the shopping on his way home from work) This particular night we'd decided on ham steaks with pineapple, so when he gets home I was going to prepare the ham, he'd forgotten it, so he goes back to the supermarket to get the ham, so that was all good I've prepped the ham and ready to cook, and I can't find the pineapple, yep, you guessed it he'd forgotten that as well.  He refused to go to the same supermarket, went to the other instead.  That was my argument for him writing a note, but he never would.  It is so much easier to get housework done when you are by yourself.  Deana has been taking my car as we still haven't found where Eli put her keys, so even though I was planning on going out today, I can't.  Waiting for the locksmith to come so he can repair the immobiliser on her spare keys,  So have to wait for them to come before I can go and have my shower.  I had a phone consult today to get my new script so have to pick up the script as they don't fax them to the pharmacy I use.  Sort of defeats the purpose of the phone consult, but I'm fine with that, at least they are bulk-billed so no out of pocket cost.  Quiet otherwise apart from a chat I had with the people across the road.  I went out to check the letterbox and she was also outside with her children, so chatted for quite a while from our front yards.

Stay safe and take care.  Love to all.  Sue xx

  • Hi sue

Got it OK, can't believe he asked for a refund. Bit of Australian news on as well very interesting.

Glad your still talking to your neighbours even if long distance now. Glad things are OK at home.

Carol fancy forgetting something, but you remembered the main things

Glad you sorted out which day in time that's trouble now every day the same even weekend.. Hope you've had a good few days in the garden at one with nature.

Hope Norman keeps well, and make sure you don't overdo it with all your jobs around the house.

    Love to all.... Billy xxx

  • Hi to all.

Just got letter from specialist (we saw January) saying to put bren on new meds for her parkinsons should help her mobility.. Also a note saying some of her meds could have caused parkinsons in the first place.. We can't win can we.

Hope everyone is fighting fit and haven't murdered anyone yet.. Love to all.... Billy xxx.

I'm still washing my hands regularly and touch screen..

  • Dear friends, I couldn't log on yesterday so I gave up.  Our heating has gone kaput so now waiting for someone to come, what a carry on to get through last night, the man I spoke to said we didn't have a Policy so I spent all night worrying as we have £1,000.00 cover, we'll ll check in the morning he says.  So by 10 am after running up and down stairs with hot kettles I rang again.  Finally after 15 minutes a lady on a mobile working from home tried to explain what would happen but I only heard every other word as reception was so poor, I can't hear you very well I said, I'll talk. VERY slowly she said, I'm not deaf I said, I just can't hear you!!  Oh my goodness, after another ten minutes someone is supposed to call me, i live in hope.  Norman is not well today the treatment is affecting his stomach.  Faye is struggling with Alfie as he just wants to play on his gamer and is doing nothing else so arguments galore, she is too patient with him he needs telling off. Lisa has managed to get me a Tesco slot so food ordered again.  It's really cold here today, fortunately I have a gas fire which is now on, after the sunshine yesterday its a shock.  Sue I bet you find the keys in a Wellington boot or somewhere silly, Alfie lost Fayes when she was here and we found them in a slipper!  I'm obviously not going to be able to see ours for weeks again apart from Skype, it's all so sad.  Billy, no one has a clue of what is happening and you need your thinking cap on to put it right.  My brother had a stroke and they had him on so much medication he could hardly function, he stopped taking certain meds himself and git better as they were all interacting with other stuff.  Well take care all of you, I wonder how Anthea is as she was going back to work, maybe she will pop on and let us know.  Love to you all, Carol x

  • Hi to everyone on this thread,

Carol, I hope Norman feels better soon.

Sue, I saw that clip of the moron who tried to get his money back on his stockpile of toilet paper and sanitiser after being stopped from ripping off everyone else. I was glad he got his comeuppance.

Billy, still my hero, not surprised that some of Bren's meds could have caused her Parkinson's. I worry about the effects of multiple drugs on the system.

I have just lost a friend who had her mastectomy the same day as I had mine, She died of an overwhelming infection that she had been suffering from for months and despite every effort by her husband, she was never sent for blood tests, because her symptoms were the same as the side effects of the post surgical medication she had been put on and it was just assumed that she was suffering these side effects.  Maybe at another time, she would have been treated differently but in these awful times I fear there will be many more who lose their battles because attention has been diverted to the dreaded CV. Now, her poor 86 year old husband of more than 60 years has to stay isolated all alone for 14 days because he was allowed to stay with her on the ICU, where she spent the last 24 hours of her life and where there were Covid patients. So sad!

Take care, everyone, and stay safe and well.

    Christine xxx
